The company also provides recreational quality water for artificial beaches, urban lagoons, wave pools, and surf parks, as well as ultra-pure and potable water for a variety of uses.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

VVater is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Government Affairs to lead our efforts in managing relationships with government agencies, policymakers, and regulatory bodies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of government processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence public policy in support of our organizational goals. This role requires a proactive individual who can navigate complex political environments and advocate effectively on behalf of the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, or a related field. A master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field, with a strong track record of influencing public policy and regulatory decisions.
  • Proven experience in dealing with DoD, FEMA, and other government military or disaster relief branches.
  • Deep understanding of government processes, legislative and regulatory environments, and public policy issues relevant to the organization.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence decision-makers.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to assess the impact of legislative and regulatory developments on the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team of professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to influence public policy and regulatory decisions that impact the organization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, policymakers, and regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, analyze their impact on the organization, and provide strategic advice to senior leadership.
  • Represent the organization in meetings with government officials, regulatory bodies, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
  • Draft position papers, policy briefs, and testimony for presentation to government officials and regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate and manage the organization’s participation in industry coalitions, trade associations, and other collaborative efforts.
  • Develop and implement grassroots advocacy initiatives to mobilize stakeholders and influence public policy.
  • Advise senior leadership on political and regulatory risks and opportunities, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, comments, and other required documentation.
  • Manage and mentor a team of government affairs professionals, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with all lobbying, ethics, and disclosure requirements.
  • Plan and execute government affairs events, including meetings, briefings, and receptions.
