Responsibilities:
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:
- Strategic Alignment: Ensure government relations activities are closely aligned with business goals, identifying key governmental issues that impact the business and advising leadership on public policy and regulatory matters.
- Representation: Represent the organisation’s interests at all levels of government, establishing rapport with government officials, industry associations, and trade organisations to advocate for common industry positions.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage risks to the enterprise from government actions, creating action plans to mitigate these risks.
- Advocacy Leadership: Develop and lead advocacy plans for identified issues, including participating in grassroots activities across the organisation.
- Partnership Development: Build effective coalitions with trade associations or outside groups to support the companies’ advocacy efforts.
- Legislative Analysis: Analyse legislative and regulatory proposals impacting the business, developing short-term initiatives and tactics that align with business objectives.
- Communication: Lead internal and external communications related to government advocacy activities, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
- Team Leadership: Develop, lead, and motivate Government Relations managers and staff, setting goals for training, development, performance, and career planning to build a strong and effective team.
