Responsibilities:

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:

  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure government relations activities are closely aligned with business goals, identifying key governmental issues that impact the business and advising leadership on public policy and regulatory matters.
  • Representation: Represent the organisation’s interests at all levels of government, establishing rapport with government officials, industry associations, and trade organisations to advocate for common industry positions.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage risks to the enterprise from government actions, creating action plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Advocacy Leadership: Develop and lead advocacy plans for identified issues, including participating in grassroots activities across the organisation.
  • Partnership Development: Build effective coalitions with trade associations or outside groups to support the companies’ advocacy efforts.
  • Legislative Analysis: Analyse legislative and regulatory proposals impacting the business, developing short-term initiatives and tactics that align with business objectives.
  • Communication: Lead internal and external communications related to government advocacy activities, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
  • Team Leadership: Develop, lead, and motivate Government Relations managers and staff, setting goals for training, development, performance, and career planning to build a strong and effective team.

  • Legislative and Regulatory Expertise: In-depth understanding of legislative and regulatory processes in the Europe, Africa, and Middle East regions, with the ability to navigate and influence these environments effectively.
  • Project and Priority Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment, ensuring timely and efficient outcomes.
