Description:

The University of Pikeville and Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) is seeking a Director of Graduate Medical Education. KYCOM is ranked #2 by US News and World Report in medical schools with the most graduates practicing in rural areas and #2 in medical schools with the most graduates practicing primary care. With nearly 550 students, faculty and staff are committed to teaching and learning, innovation, and the success of medical education.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Clinic Affairs, the Director of Graduate Medical Education is directly responsible for working with KYCOM administration and faculty to develop graduate medical education that meets the needs of its graduates within the defined service area and is consistent with KYCOM’s mission. They are to assist new and existing GME programs in meeting the requirements for accreditation as well as in meeting the requirements for osteopathic recognition.

EDUCATION/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft products. Experience creating and maintaining databases is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, speaking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability and willingness to develop professionally to meet the Mission and Objectives of KYCOM.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others in a dynamic environment and adapt to changes.
  • Travel as necessary.
  • Must be familiar with conducting research on the Web, creating online travel arrangements, and ordering office supplies.
  • Must have experience working with office equipment, e.g., computers, video cameras, multi-line telephones, fax, printers, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and develop new osteopathic training programs and provide administrative knowledge and reference materials for existing programs.
  • Assists in the preparation of materials and documentation required for COCA and ACGME accreditation.
  • Be present at site visits, inspections, conferences, residency fairs, and all other business-related travel.
  • Monitor and facilitate the maintenance of web-based curriculum, faculty development, research didactic programming, grand rounds, etc.
  • Work independently and make decisions within the department on routine work.
  • Organize, coordinate, and prepare necessary minutes at meetings and conferences.
  • Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to copying, faxing, mailing, filing, answering phones, and responding to email communication.
  • Travel, as needed, to promotional events, site visits, conferences, and other occasions as requested by the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs.
  • Support faculty and staff in assigned project-based work and in efforts to maintain continued COCA and ACGME accreditation.
  • Represent KYCOM at community meetings/functions.
  • Plan and execute the annual KYCOM Residency Fair.
  • Maintain frequent correspondence with new and existing graduate medical education programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
