Description:

Georgetown College is seeking candidates for a Director of Human Resources. The Director of Human Resources Provides hands on management and organizational support in all areas of Human Resources while adhering to the policies of the College and within legal and ethical boundaries of federal and state employment law. The Director of Human Resources reports to the Vice President of Finance & Administration.

Responsibilities:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises the Human Resources Specialist. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Act as senior level advisor on human resources issues to all level of employees throughout the College.
  • Direct and Coordinate all aspects of the employee benefit program; from plan design and structure, budgeting, negotiating premiums, implementation and employee enrollment, to the day to day servicing of all benefit plans.
  • Work with college benefit consultants and other outside vendors of the college.
  • Provide excellent customer service to our faculty and staff as the primary contact for all benefit and policy questions and or problems.
  • Serve as the 403b Plan Administrator and Coordinate the Retirement Plan Committee which is responsible for assuring that the retirement plan and administrative service meets our fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Work collaboratively with offices across campus to identify and resolve all employee relations issues in an ethical, professional and confidential manner.
  • Stay informed of developing and changing employment and wage and hour laws at the state and federal level to assure compliance with such laws.
  • Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and exit interviews to identify possible areas of improvement as an employer.
  • Serve as the primary hiring manager for all recruitment of faculty and staff on campus.
  • Manage the HRIS System (Paycom) which is utilized to manage all faculty, staff & student workers compensation and benefits from hire to retire.
  • Plan and organize employee events on campus; including service awards, appreciation luncheons and professional development workshops.
  • Manage workers compensation insurance and process claims including the annual OSHA 300 report.
  • Administer and serve as the primary contact of the colleges Red Flag Reporting system.
  • Plan and recommend budgets, manage expenditures, report on budget variances, reconcile benefit billing and other financial measures of the Human Resources Department

  • Education and / or Experience - A Bachelors degree in Human Resource management or related Personnel/Human Resources field, or 2-5 years of managerial and supervisory experience in public or private Human Resources field; or any similar combination of education and experience. Strong overall knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources.
  • Communication / Language - Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the general public; ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies, or members of the college and business community.
  • Mathematical - Ability to calculate figures and amounts with attention to detail.
  • Reasoning - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) preferred.
  • Computer Literacy / General Office Equipment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), Paycom or similar HRIS system preferred. Knowledge of basic office equipment
