Description:
The Director of Human Resources supports executive leadership in driving the culture of the organization by planning, leading, and coordinating the functions related to personnel management and staff experience of the organization. The Director will ensure industry leading practices are implemented to manage the life-cycle of a staff member from orientation, onboarding, engagement, performance, development and benefits to separation, when applicable. Furthermore, the Director will stay apprised of regulatory updates and mitigate areas of risk as it pertains to Maryland Wellness workforce. Finally, the Director of Human Resources will make Maryland Wellness the preferred employer of choice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Interpersonal Skills: ability to build relationships across internal business units, external vendors and other community partners for industry insight.
- Regulatory Knowledge: strong understanding of labor laws and industry best practices.
- Organization and planning: understanding departmental and organizational priorities and planning and communicating accordingly throughout the organization.
- Attention to detail: thorough development and review of contracts, policies, procedures, training material and other areas that impact the staff and business.
- Proactively plans and continuous looks for opportunities for refinement and efficiencies.
- Calm under pressure or challenging situations to drive towards conflict resolution.
- Creative and Innovative to support across areas of the organization as it pertains to employee engagement, development, rewards and recognition.
- Ability to negotiate with staff and vendors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
- Proficient with Google Business Suite or related software.

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Experience in mental health and addictions, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Must have the ability to stay in a stationary position for long periods of time
- Must have the ability to occasionally move about the office
- Ability to sit and use a computer for long periods of time.
- Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
- Sufficient near vision ability to read information appearing on computer display screens, in hand-written forms, and printed on paper.
- Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office or other environmentally controlled room.

Responsibilities:
- Support the company’s overall strategic plan by promoting the impact of HR strategies and their capacity to drive and support business objectives.
- Partner with the leadership team and all business units to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future staffing needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Ensure company policies and procedures maintain compliance with employment laws, industry standards, and accreditation regulatory bodies as related to personnel management.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Analyze and recommend updates to the company’s compensation packages, benefit offerings, employee satisfaction ratings, and overall staff retention as compared to the market trends and competing agencies.
- Support and develop the human resources department staff.
- Provide support and guidance to staff and management when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise.
- Gather, analyze, recommend and implement improvements through ongoing feedback from new hire, annual and exit surveys.
- Organize programs and opportunities for staff development and training.
- Plan and execute a variety of staff events for employee engagement, rewards and recognition.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
