Description:
Northwest Talent Solutions is a leading Technology, Finance, and Healthcare staffing/recruiting and HR/DEI consulting firm partnering with outstanding clients within the private industry and public sector. Currently, we are partnered with a preferred client in the Aerospace/Aviation/Defense industry in search of a highly talented Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Director, Human Resources and Labor Relations will be responsible for developing and executing strategic people initiatives to optimize the company’s Operations organization within the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Sector. This role will oversee a 2,400-person organization, including a 1,500-person bargaining unit specializing in aircraft modernization and modification. The position involves union contract strategy, preparation, and negotiations, working with both union and company leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 15 years related experience or Graduate Degree with 13 years of related experience (In lieu of degree, minimum 19 years of related experience)
- 5+ years in a leadership role in Human Resources, with experience leading labor relations for a bargained population
- Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements and negotiating with union representatives
- Strong HR functional knowledge in Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Talent Management, and Employee Relations
- Experience in the Aerospace and Defense or manufacturing industry preferred
- Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance (requires US Citizenship)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated track record of building strong business relationships with leaders
- Strong presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience developing strategy for collective bargaining and reporting to senior leadership
- Proficiency in using metrics and analytics for HR decision-making
- Ability to travel as needed
Responsibilities:
- Partner with sector and site leadership to deliver strategies driving engagement, talent acquisition, development, and organizational effectiveness
- Serve as a key member of the ISR HR team in developing and executing HR strategic priorities
- Ensure consistent application of HR processes and programs in alignment with organizational needs and collective bargaining agreements
- Use metrics/analytics to drive performance and people decisions in HR strategies
- Collaborate on workforce and staffing plans to ensure availability of necessary human capital
- Manage and develop a team of six direct reports, including labor professionals and HR Business Partners
- Strategize with labor representatives and site leaders for company bargaining positions during negotiations
- Prepare negotiation materials for senior leadership review and manage the negotiation budget and process
