JOB OVERVIEW

Austin Fitness Group (AFG) is seeking an experienced tactical and strategic Director of Human Resources (HR) to lead our HR department. This leader will consult, advise, and implement effective human resource management policies, programs, and practices. The Director of HR will have a proven history of successfully developing and implementing HR initiatives that drive employee engagement and align with business goals and vision. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR, inclusive of talent acquisition, hiring, benefits, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and compliance. This is a senior leadership role that will report to the CEO.
AFG is one of the largest area representative franchisee ownership platforms in the Orangetheory Fitness system with over 60 studios in 5 states (Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Kansas and Pennsylvania). AFG maintains a corporate headquarters in the greater Austin, TX market and supports a hybrid office / home work environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in a related field a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with 2+ years in a role that leads people, programs, or projects.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support the company’s overall objectives and goals.
  • Lead an HR team of 2-5 regional HR business partners and or recruiters to provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers, senior, and executive leadership on HR policies, procedures, workforce planning, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Oversee employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, investigations, corrective actions, and compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
  • Establish employee engagement initiatives and programs to enhance productivity and retention. Lead diversity and inclusion efforts to promote an inclusive workplace.
  • Ensure a competitive total rewards package, including fair compensation and group benefits like retirement and health insurance.
  • Collaborate with leadership on staffing, recruiting, and retention strategies, and execute best practices for talent management.
  • Conduct research and analysis of HR KPIs and organizational trends to develop solutions, programs, and policies that align with business objectives.
  • Ensure the effective use of HRIS, HCM, and other HR software systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements for employment operations to ensure regulatory compliance and reduce legal risks.
  • Plan, lead, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, surveys, and performance management guidance for studio management.
  • Manage company-wide internal communications to ensure consistent and clear messaging and assist with company-wide events and meetings.
