Trinity College School is seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology Services to envision and lead the School’s information technology services and provide oversight of IT Services operations. The ideal candidate will have past achievements in developing and implementing successful technology strategies, managing projects, and driving innovation within a complex organization.
The successful candidate will, identify emerging information technology management trends and recommend strategies in alignment with the School’s strategic plan. To be successful in this role, the Director must apply strategic insight with an organization-wide perspective; demonstrate innovation and forward thinking; and foster collegial collaboration.
Reporting to the Executive Director - Facilities & IT Services, this role is responsible for managing a team of two technicians in a helpdesk environment. The Director also works closely with contracted managed service providers on support calls, project development and implementations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills are key components of this job.

The Director of Information Technology Services leads the Information Technology Services department keenly focused on:

  • People & community – through the effective leadership of a skilled, knowledgeable team which offers timely support to a diverse community of more than 200 staff members and 600 students from approximately 30 countries
  • Customer service delivery – through connections with students, educational staff, operational staff to gain an understanding their technology needs
  • Risk – through excellent fiscal management, proactive security & privacy management, emergency preparedness and response
  • Efficiency in operations – through management of staff, contractors, vendors, IT policy & procedures, budgeting & purchasing

SKILLS

  • Principles and best practices in computer science, networking and cybersecurity
  • Knowledgeable about computing platforms, server technology and applications (e.g. Google Apps, MS Office, MS Windows/Windows Server, Apple OS and iOS)
  • Familiarity with audio/visual components
  • A working knowledge of current web technologies
  • Software installation, integration and troubleshooting methodologies and best practices
  • Ability to develop and provide training and support to users
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively
  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing complex projects from start to finish
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Business Management, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Certification preferred: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CGEIT, PMP
  • 12-15 years of experience in an IT leadership role with a progressive record of accomplishment in this discipline
  • In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, software and hardware
  • Experience with cloud computing, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Experience managing a budget and financial forecasting
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace for Education would be beneficial

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the IT Services team; provide vision, guidance and support as required to ensure TCS is meeting its goals and objectives
  • Develop and manage the IT operating and capital budgets, including cost management, resource allocation, and forecasting, while adhering to departmental budgeting and purchasing procedures and policies
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement; with a collaborative approach, implement new technologies and processes to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • Support and positively engage with students, parents, educational staff and operational staff on any technology-related matters
  • Evaluate, select and manage third-party vendors and service providers to support TCS’s technology needs
  • Work closely with the School’s Privacy Officer and be a key member of the Privacy Team
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and applicable regulations
  • Apply, maintain and create IT policies as required to help achieve governance requirements
  • Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity planning (DRP/BCP) and testing
  • Monitor and analyze cybersecurity risks and threats; develop mitigation and response strategies
  • Manage IT-related projects, including planning, budgeting, execution and delivery; provide regular reports to the Executive Director
  • Work closely with the School’s managed services provider to oversee the installation, monitoring, management, support and security of all network infrastructure including firewall, LAN, WiFi, telephones, and servers
  • Partner with the School’s managed services provider, to ensure that the School has a robust IT security strategy in place that is tested and updated as required, including reporting any IT threats and vulnerabilities to the Executive Director - Facilities & IT Services
  • Ensure inventory of all IT equipment is up to date and manage the tracking and appropriate disposal of IT assets
