QUALIFICATIONS
License or Certification:
- SPHR or SHRM-SCP a plus.
- CPLP; PMP a plus.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, I/O Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or related field
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of related experience in providing strategic direction in Talent Management, Organizational Development and or Organizational Effectiveness
- Minimum of 10 years leading complex projects to completion through a demonstrated strong background in Program and project management
- Minimum 8 years of experience creating, designing, implementing, and evaluating learning effectiveness.
- Minimum 5 years building strong understanding of adult learning principles and various instructional methodologies.
- Minimum 5 years in leading employee engagement and experience initiatives
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience, experience leading managers and matric teams preferred.
- Experience in healthcare strongly preferred.
- Executive coaching experience or certification a plus.
- Certification as a Clifton Strengths Coach or familiar with Clifton Strengths’ a plus.

Responsibilities:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Director of Learning & Organizational Effectiveness will lead the development and execution of our company’s strategy for learning and development, encompassing both leadership and non-leader development. The scope includes front line employees and leadership of all levels within both the hospitals and home office. This role will also oversee the Organizational Effectiveness team in developing and executing employee experience and engagement initiatives. This role will lead building out a systematic framework for consultative High-Performance team coaching and consulting and operationalize this across all regions and hospitals. This role will report to the VP, Organizational Development.
This role assesses needs, designing, developing, and measuring the impact of company learning and development and engagement initiatives and strategies that impact stakeholders in all areas of the business. This position consults with company leadership and SMEs to define and lead team in designing effective programs that support company goals and enhance talent. This role manages the L&D and OE teams and external consultant and vendor relationships. This position oversees the L&D and OE budgets, as well as the execution of leadership and development programs specifically designed for executives at the hospital and home office.
RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Build strong relationships with our field Regional Presidents and RVPs of HR to understand their business, opportunities and challenges and take the lead to curate solutions that will help our field leaders to be equipped to drive better development and deliver strong retention outcomes.
- Partner with the VP or Organizational Development to define and implement a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with Encompass Health’s growth strategy.
- Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of all leader and non-leader training programs, making recommendations to adjust as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
- Partner with the VP of Organizational development to continue implement Clifton strengths across the organization as a tool to increase performance, engagement, and retention and integrate this framework into our programs and culture around learning.
- Design and deliver leadership development programs, such as the Developing Future CEO program, to enhance the capabilities of current and future leaders to fill critical leadership roles.
- Build out and grow the Organizational Effectiveness team through developing and implementing a systematic framework for consultative High-Performance Team coaching and consulting and a plan to operationalize this across our 8 regions and 160 plus hospitals.
- Develop and implement and innovative strategy around employee experience to leverage and expand on our current employee engagement strategy and initiatives.
- Own, evaluate and continuously improve our coaching program and personally provide coaching support to leaders, helping them develop their leadership skills and address complex organizational challenges.
- This is an in office position located in Birmingham, Alabama.
