Position: Director of Learning & Professional Development

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, preferred.
Training, certificate, or experience in Adult Learning & Training theories required.
A minimum of 3 years training and development experience in a similar sized organization.

OTHER SKILLS

Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.

REQUIREMENTS

Computer skills: full, in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Must provide own vehicle, have a valid state driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Director of Learning & Professional Development, under supervision of the Chief Business Officer or delegate, is responsible for all onboarding, training, & professional development experiences for all Team Members to promote skill growth, advancement and succession planning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Learning & Development
Implements an annual learning & development plan including a calendar of training opportunities designed to teach & deepen core skills & competencies. Ensures a good balance of high-quality tech-based learning, in person training, and guided shadowing & observation experiences take place.
Develops full professional development plans for each position.
Identifies training needs.
Schedules, calendars, and tracks attendance/participation in all learning & training experiences using paperless tech tools.
Keeps training materials up to date, easy to find, & without duplication.
Stays up to date with what’s happening in the field and promotes opportunities for learning experiences where relevant & appropriate.
Ensures internal training program aligns with BGCA where appropriate, meets and exceeds checkpoints set by the National organization.
Provides regular growth & development opportunities across the organization.
Facilitates leadership development program. Works with Supervisors to actively seek out top performing Team Members to participate.
Designs and implements a skill building program for new and developing managers.
Partners with HR to align training content with established competencies to help us promote, recognize and reward excellence against goals, while driving a culture of continuous reflection & transparent feedback.
Leads a “Training of Trainers” Program designed to equip leaders with skills needed to train on onboarding content, as well as specific specialized content.
Fosters partnerships with external community organizations to provide relevant training experiences from outside the organization, invites experts to share their knowledge with our Team.
Onboarding
Develops 30- 60–90-day onboarding plans that are relevant, purposeful & engaging.
Develops sustainable plan to ensure Team Members have an onboarding experience that connects them to our mission, vision and strategic plan.
Provides year-round opportunities for employees to develop new skills and/or to close learning gaps.
Partners with Human Resources to ensure a clear, thorough and supportive onboarding process.
Annual Training Conferences
Partners with Senior Program Leadership to plan, develop, & facilitate Back to School & Summer Camp training conferences for the Youth Impact Department.
Reports on progress and solicits feedback from Senior Leaders throughout the planning process.
Club Quality
Sits on the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee/Team. Develops materials to train managers on CQI process and how to conduct Club visits with an eye for quality.
Uplifts & amplifies Direct Service Team Member voices to ensure maximum impact in the Clubs and on the team.
