Are you ready to take the helm as the most senior midwife at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust? We’re searching for a visionary leader for our team. As the DoM, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering safe, high-quality maternity care across our Trust. You’ll work closely with the Maternity Directorate to align strategic and operational goals, ensuring that our maternity services remain ‘outstanding’ as rated by the CQC.
Your leadership will shape the professional development of midwives, advocate for the highest standards of care, and continuous improvement of our services.
In this role, you’ll provide professional leadership, guiding midwives and nurses in the delivery of maternity and neonatal services with compassion and excellence. You’ll be an advocate for safe, high-quality care, working with key stakeholders such as the Maternity Voices Partnership, local and regional systems, and education providers. Collaborating closely with the maternity triumvirate, you’ll lead on strategy development and support the operational delivery of services, fostering a positive culture of safety and learning.
The ideal candidate will have experience driving strategic change and fostering an inclusive, positive work culture, along with exceptional communication skills to motivate and inspire teams to deliver outstanding care.

The DoM provides corporate, strategic and professional leadership for the delivery of maternity services. In partnership with the Maternity Directorate Triumvirate - the General Manager, Clinical Director and Deputy Director of Midwifery, you will link the strategic and operational objectives to ensure high quality and safe maternity services. There are three broad aims of the role:

  • Professional leader for midwives, maternity and neonatology nurses.
  • Advocate for safe, high quality maternity care in partnership with maternity providers across NWL/London, Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP), Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and education providers
  • Collaboratively with the maternity triumvirate, lead on strategy development and support operational delivery of maternity services.
