Description:
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
· Must demonstrate examples of excellent leadership skills in previous career
· Preferably able to speak English fluently and articulately
· Minimum of 4 years - experience in a similar sized early childhood setting
· Preferably qualified to Bachelor of Education and or CACHE Level 5 in Leadership of Young Peoples and Children’s Work Places
· Must have excellent organizational, communication and time management skills
The Manager is responsible for:
a) Leading the educational programme
b) Staff Management & Recruitment
c) Operations
d) Health & Safety
e) Self – Evaluation & Development
More specifically she will:
a) Leading the educational programme:
- Lead the EYFS curriculum by overseeing the assessment and learning levels and guide the teaching staff with activity ideas, resources, lesson plans, teaching strategies
- Ensure planning & assessment meet EYFS guidelines
- Ensure the activities and environment is inclusive for all the learning needs of all children
- Regularly review teaching pedagogies and approaches
- Demonstrate best practices of teaching, learning and classroom management, through practicing at least 1 hours per week of ‘classroom time’ within a different classroom each week
- Plan the CPD calendar for staff
- Plan the selection and ordering of resources pertaining to the needs of the children, areas of learning, and SEN / ESL
- Ensure that teachers are maintaining record keeping and Learning Journals for all children
b) Staff Management & Recruitment:
· Creates an environment that promotes a healthy respect and value for each other
· Builds a culture of mutual respect and understanding
· Builds positive relationships with stakeholders
· Cultivates a strong sense of appreciation for the local culture and others in the international community (international mindedness)
· Supervises, supports and evaluates staff through supervision systems that clarify roles, responsibilities
· Encourages effective teamwork by setting achievable goals which are clearly communicated
· Chairs staff meetings on a regular basis
- Organizes roles and responsibilities which work in synergy
- Conducts effective Induction for all staff at the start of employment, beginning of academic year and various times as required
- Interviews candidates for positions and reports back to the owner
c) Operations
- Maintains up to date and organized files and records (admissions, Child Records, etc)
- Edits and proof - reads the teachers parent letters
- Writes a Mid Term Parent Newsletter
- Creates effective Parent Partnerships where communication is shared regularly pertaining to child progress through an open - door policy
- Responds to concerns in a timely and appropriate manner in accordance with the Raising Concerns Policy
- Organizes Parent Teacher meetings and other calendar events
- Ensures that nursery schedules and staff Rota’s are practical
- Ensures that displays, décor and ambiance reflect the approach of the setting
- Initiates Community Outreach
- Manages the maintenance and cleaning of the facility
d) Health & Safety
· Ensures that daily Safety and Risk Assessments are carried out
· Ensures the Medical needs (Nurse JD, records, policies) are in order and implemented
· Supports the Nurse with monitoring the hygiene practices (for children & staff)
· Ensures that communication to parents is in line with DHA requirements
e) Self – Evaluation & Development
· Manages a Self - Evaluation process which is designed to support improvements and developments of the Center, such as educationally, operationally and financially
· Creates SMART goals which are achievable and result from a comprehensive Self Evaluation process
