Description:
Direct Medics is a premier healthcare recruitment specialist, seeking applications for the position of Director of Nursing for the Regional Vaccination Team in Limerick. This role is critical in leading the vaccination effort and ensuring effective administration of vaccines across the region.
The HSE protects our population from threats to health and well-being through the provision of national immunisation and vaccination programmes, the prevention and control of infectious diseases, and response to environmental hazards and emergencies. It seeks to deliver measurable health improvement, and provides public health assessment and advice to health and social care service planning, all of which is underpinned by health intelligence.
Vaccination Programme
The key function of the Health and Wellbeing vaccination programme is to offer vaccines to the whole of the population for whom it is indicated. The Irish Vaccination Programme is designed to ensure the safe effective and efficient administration of vaccines to all who are eligible and wish to receive it.
The Director of Nursing (DON) will have responsibility for compliance with medicines protocols and medication management across the programme. The DON will be the clinical lead for the vaccination programme. The DON will be responsible for all clinical staff on the vaccination programme including deployment and skill mix. The DON will be expected to develop, implement and monitor the processes required to deliver a safe and efficient vaccination programme.
The DON will have responsibility for the future planning of the vaccination programme including any other vaccination workstreams that come on board.

COVID Vaccination Programme
Flu Vaccination Programme
LAIV for children
REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered Nurse with a valid NMBI registration
- Significant experience in a similar role, particularly within public health or vaccination programs
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of health care policies related to vaccination and immunization
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Right to work in Ireland
