Description:
Position: Director of Operations, Thierry
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer, Toptable Group
Toptable Group’s Thierry Chocolaterie Patisserie Cafe, voted “Best Desserts” and “Best Pastries” in Vancouver, offers a contemporary approach to the finest handcrafted chocolates, macarons, pastries, and desserts. We are seeking a hospitality professional to provide operational oversight and leadership to guide our current locations.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Operations will provide senior leadership to all Thierry restaurants. This senior leader will work daily with the teams within each restaurant to deliver best in class culinary and guest experience. Leading by example, this hands-on management role provides efficient execution of operations, profitability, and sales growth—fostering a culture of guest experience, efficiency and excellence.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience leading a premium food and beverage operation
- A leader with record of rolling up sleeves and understanding the needs of the business from the ground up
- A builder of high performing teams and positive workplace culture
- Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze current business problems and implement recommended solutions
- An innovative spirit with the flexibility to work outside of the confines of a typical 9-5 job

Responsibilities:

- Provide daily hands on leadership to restaurant operations teams and develop strong working relationships with management, service and culinary teams at each Thierry location
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance to further Thierry guest experience, operational efficiency and culture of excellence
- Oversee profit and loss controls, inventory levels, and labor and product cost monitoring and implementing change to improve these measurables
- Develop consistent standards of practice across all business units that are clearly communicated and followed through upon to ensure exceptional and consistent standards of service and hospitality
- Foster a mindset of excellence and accountability throughout Thierry leadership teams
- Proactively identify, evaluate and continually improve service strategies to ensure consistent and efficient delivery of service standards
- Guarantee exceptional food and beverage quality by monitoring quality and handling standards
- Communicate and celebrate business successes and accomplishments
- Work with marketing and operational team to generate sustained business and sales growth
- Serve as an inspirational, committed, and responsible leader to the restaurants’ management teams
