Description:

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

University degree in a relevant discipline
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or direct equivalent is highly desirable
Extensive experience developing and implementing procurement strategies relating to information and communication technology (minimum of 10-years)
Expertise in core procurement competencies including but not limited to category management, supplier relationship management, digital procurement and automation, sustainability, compliance and governance, risk management, and contracting
Proven ability to work in a cross-functional team in a multicultural international organization leading change
Proven track record of managing global procurement operations.
Experience in a leadership role with a focus on team development
Experience of process improvement techniques such as Six Sigma is an advantage.
Work effectively multi-discipline teams to deliver complex projects
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in procurement software and tools
Strong understanding of ICT products, services, and market trends
Adept at working in an agile project environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
Strong management and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills (collaborative) and ability to influence others including senior leaders
Comfortable working with Microsoft Office
Ability to think globally and act locally combining strategic thinking and excellence in execution with strong accountability and responsibility for achieving results
Resilience and ability to prioritise when facing conflicting demands and high workload
Comfortable travelling

Responsibilities:

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this role is to lead the transformation of Ardagh’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to support the glass and metal production businesses in achieving sustainable competitive advantage and delivery sector leading value. The Director of Procurement is an integral member of the global ICT leadership team, working closely with the Chief Information Officer to deliver the transformation. The focus of the role is to develop and implement exemplar procurement strategies at pace in line with group policies with the backing of key stakeholders that secure significant cost reductions. Responsible for overseeing and managing a small procurement team, the post holder will possess deep expertise in ICT procurement, strong leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the development and implementation globally of exemplar procurement strategies for the information and communication technology (ICT) function aligned to the wider Ardagh and ICT strategy.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to align procurement activity with business objectives.
Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best terms and conditions.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and service providers.
Conduct regular performance reviews and manage supplier performance issues.
Oversee the creation, negotiation, and management of contracts for ICT products and services.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Monitor contract renewals and manage contract lifecycle effectively.
Lead and mentor a team of ICT procurement professionals.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and excellence.
Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
Implement cost control measures and track savings against targets.
Analyze spend data to identify cost reduction opportunities.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with ICT procurement.
Ensure business continuity by securing critical ICT supplies and services.
Stay informed on market trends and potential disruptions.
Work closely with ICT, finance, legal, and other departments to ensure alignment and support for procurement initiatives.
Communicate procurement strategies and policies to stakeholders at all levels.
Act as a point of contact for procurement-related inquiries and issues.
Facilitate internal and external audits of the procurement function and its activities, and lead the work to address findings as appropriate.
A key contributor to the global procurement function’s leadership team on procurement excellence matters and the wider transformation and operation of the procurement function.
