Description:

Our Professional Services team seeks a Director of the Project Management Office to support our customers with the successful delivery, implementation, onboarding and training of their modern CIS solutions. As the Director of the Project Management Office, you will lead a team of Project Managers who deliver a comprehensive portfolio of software implementation projects on behalf of Advanced’s customers. The ideal candidate has experience building and leading a Project Management office, P&L responsibility for project delivery, comfort with direct customer contact, and experience utilizing a formal project management methodology leading to successful management of a portfolio delivery schedule.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage and supervise a team of Project Managers by providing clear direction, assessing performance, training and coaching their skills development and continually improving their performance.
  • Manage a portfolio of software implementation projects, with a focus on project execution and revenue delivery, to ensure successful project completion and achievement of Advanced’s Professional Services revenue.
  • Manage revenue forecasts for the portfolio of active projects, and expense forecasts for the Project Management team.
  • Allocate and manage team resources assigned to projects.
  • Advise and assist Project Managers to ensure projects achieve delivery goals and timelines.
  • Empower employees and foster teamwork in problem solving and decision-making.
  • Remove bottlenecks and improve processes necessary to enhance quality, productivity, cost benefits, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the Project Management Office documentation and tools.
  • Provide updates to business leadership on customer/project status, proactively identifying risks and resolving or escalating as appropriate.
  • With the Project Managers, ensure that milestones and work in progress are approved according to contract acceptance criteria, invoiced on time, and paid in a timely manner.
  • Perform administrative duties such as expense approvals, project time entry review, project plan updates, and invoice processing.

What we are looking for:

  • 7+ years relevant experience leading enterprise software implementations.
  • 4+ years of experience working in a PMO with a formal delivery methodology.
  • Experience negotiating resources and deliverables within a matrix organization and with third- party vendors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Must be able to analyze information to make independent decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Proven financial acumen experience gained by managing projects valued at $1.5M to $10M.
  • Proficient working with MS Suite of products (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of interfacing effectively with management, staff, and customers.
  • Customer-focused and strong attention to detail.
  • Travel availability up to 50% throughout North America. Unrestricted ability to travel internationally (mostly within US, Canada, and Caribbean).

  • Municipal or Utility sector software implementation experience
  • Prior Project Management Office or Project Portfolio Manager experience
  • PMP or similar certification
  • Demonstrated understanding of cloud solutions and concepts
