Description:

DIRECTOR OF QUALITY, INSPECTION SERVICES

Location: This position may be worked out of any of StandardAero’s major North American facilities. A remote working arrangement within North America may be available for this role.
US: San Antonio, TX, Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, Maryville, TN, Cincinnati, OH
Canada: Winnipeg MB

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provides direction, development and coordination for the Chief Inspectors on the business units, for the purpose of maintaining consistency between the business unit practices and sharing of best practices and opportunities for improvement across the Corporation.
  • Develops and leads the Chief Inspector network across the company
  • Development and approval of inspection related plans, ensuring the plans are prepared in compliance with the applicable regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Establishes and analyzes measures of performance related to inspection processes and inspectors.
  • Develops toolkits for inspection to be used enterprise wide by inspection staff
  • Identifies and proposes new technologies for inspection
  • Develops and maintains training relative to inspection, including the areas of Precision Measurement, Condition Definition, and Manual Interpretation
  • Provide on boarding training to new Chief Inspectors and able to support training of all inspection staff functions.
  • Drives/supports the Inspection calibration Process across all sites and locations with respect to inspection accuracy, proficient use of inspection related techniques and tools.
  • SME for all inspection related policies and procedures across the enterprise. Owns company governance on inspection.
  • Oversees and monitors all inspection related training and improvement initiatives/assessments for European, US and Canadian operations
  • Provides support to FAI and NPI, relative to inspection.
  • Provide input and guidance to Business unit and IT teams when changes are planned and implemented to ERP related to the inspection function during FAI and NPI activities.
  • Provide and guidance to the implementation of SMS specific activities at BU’s, including monitoring of critical parts and processes relative to inspection.
  • Provides support to the Technical Airworthiness Group (TAG) for inspection related activities
  • Develop a system to proficiently track inspection results across the enterprise

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong planning, organizational, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • A minimum of 6 years background with both MRO and inspection activities.
  • Candidates with a Chief Inspector background and/or an engineering background would be preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory airworthiness certification requirements, including FAA, CAA, EASA, and Transport Canada
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection Process:
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and implementation of the AS9102 First Article Inspection Process.
  • Measurement Devices and Systems:
  • Strong knowledge of various measurement devices, including:
  • CMM gantry systems.
  • Mobile measurement systems like Faro arms.
  • Knowledge in their use, applications, and limitations.
  • ISO and AS9110 Requirements:
  • Good understanding of ISO and AS9110 standards related to measurement and inspection.
  • Calibration of Measurement Devices:
  • Strong knowledge in the calibration of all measurement devices including CMM’s.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
  • Capability to generate and analyze inspection data reports to drive continuous improvements across multi-site operations

Responsibilities:

The Director of Quality, Inspection Services will be responsible, as the corporate SME for inspection, to standardize inspection practices across the enterprise. The Director of Quality, Inspection Services will work to reduce variation in inspection techniques and interpretation, within a BU and also across BU’s that perform MRO services on similar product.
The individual in this role will set the standard for training of inspection staff, will set the standard for the role of the Chief Inspector, and will look for opportunities to improve the inspection process.
The individual in this role may further delegate responsibilities to the Chief BU Inspectors for similar functions on each BU. In compliance with Standard Aero Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions, Company Processes, and other applicable production requirements, the Leader of Inspection Services duties and responsibilities include the following:
