Description:
THE DIRECTOR OF RESIDENT CARE WILL LEAD THE NURSING TEAM AND COLLABORATE WITH THE MANAGEMENT TEAM OF THIS HOME TO START THE OPERATION:
- Work with the Administrator to prepare for the Pre-Occupancy Plan
- Prepare and Participate in the Pre-Occupancy inspection
- Select and final the service agreement the nursing service providers
- Manage the day-to-day nursing services/operation upon receiving the licence issued by the Ministry of Long Term Care
QUALIFICATION:
Reasonable efforts that will be used to ensure qualifications for the Director of Resident Care are as follows:
- Registered Nurse with a current certificate of competence from College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current membership with Gerontological Nursing Association (GNA) and Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) is desirable.
- Possession of valid CPR (Health Care Provider Level C) and First Aid certificates.
- Post-RN education in nursing administration and management; preference is BScN and/or business degree in health management particularly long term care and further education in gerontology, geriatrics, or rehabilitation.
- At least 1 year of experience working as a registered nurse in the long-term care sector.
- At least 3 years of experience working as a registered nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting.
- Team player with a customer service focus who exhibits leadership, initiative, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates caring and respectful behavior with strong clinical, assessment, conflict management, communication, and organization skills.
- Proficiency in oral and written English.
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to speak Cantonese and or Mandarin is an asset.
- Relevant computer literacy.
