Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for ensuring maximum revenue generated in room, food and beverage, and retail departments by all sales staff in all market segments consistent with Xanterra Parks & Resorts interests, objectives and standards of quality and profitability. Continually monitor and modify rate, pricing strategies and packaging in accordance with demand and promotion opportunities. Produce room nights and revenues from the Corporate/Incentive & SMERFE market segments. Supervise adherence to transient strategies with Rooms Director, Reservations Manager, Corporate Revenue Management and Corporate Sales & Marketing departments. Provide rates for all market segments and packages to CRES for input into OPERA. Develop and manage the Sales and Marketing Budget. Act as liaison with the advertising agency in approval of ads, adherence to the approved media schedule, tracking of results, creative direction, etc. Maintain accuracy and freshness of property web site by updating rates, photography, lodging promotions, calendar of events, highway closures, etc. Act as liaison with Public Relations firm, including screening and meeting with travel journalists and planning annual Press Trip. Also, provide appropriate information from which to prepare timely and relevant press releases. Develop “Calendar Specials” for E-Mail Club members throughout the year. Generate programs designed to develop new business including building profitable relationships with local CVBs and DMCs.
Responsibilities:
- Direct, supervise, train, develop and evaluate all sales personnel.
- Develop and execute Marketing Plan, along with Sales and Rooms staff and submit it to General Manager and corporate Sales & Marketing team, according to the schedule established by corporate office.
- Prepare and submit Sales and Marketing Budget each year according to schedule established by corporate office.
- Produce rate strategies to be used with E-Mail Club communications, submit to CRES and monitor the results of the effort on a regular basis.
- Initiate regular direct mail and telephone contact with TV/movie production companies to solicit commercial and feature film crew housing. Attending Locations trade show in April to support this effort. Maintain liaison with Inyo County Film Commission.
- Nurture the relationship with the Concessions/Special Use Manager at the National Park Service, since this person is very important in securing movie and TV film projects in the park and Xanterra’ s relationship with NPS in Death Valley.
- Maintain close working relationships with all other hotel departments to ensure that clients’ requests/requirements are met. Coordinate all details of groups personally booked and produce Banquet Event Orders and interdepartmental communications related to the bookings.
- Maximize sales potential through key relationships including Historic Hotels of America and evaluate and where appropriate utilize electronic sites providing leads from bone fide meeting and event planners.
- Conduct client site inspections and familiarization tours as appropriate.
- Responsible for ensuring that all employees are aware of, Xanterra’s company-wide Environmental Management System (EMS) and their roles and responsibilities in achieving conformance to the policy.
- Perform any assignments or tasks as directed by General Manager or Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Xanterra Parks & Resorts.
