Description:
As a key member of the Hotel leadership team, the Director of Sales has influence and accountability for the revenue generation and marketing efforts of the property. Reporting to the General Manager as well as the Regional Director of Sales, the Director of Sales will be responsible for maintaining the highest level of ethical leadership to lead the property to achieve its business goals by driving revenue, maximizing profitability and outstanding quality service for the customers. Director of Sales will provide effective management to assigned employees to ensure achievement of overall financial results, guest satisfaction and positive employee relations. Preference will also be given to those with experience in the Halifax hotel market. Only those that are legally able to work in Canada will be considered.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to drive business in new and existing markets and deliver a high-quality guest experience.
- Achieve established room night quotas and sales call quotas (including solicitation calls, customer sites, entertaining, and other correspondence).
- Lead, mentor and coach on site property sales team members to ensure property top line revenues and targets are achieved
- Proactively solicit and qualifies existing and new business to achieve personal revenue goals, hotel revenue goals, and restaurant revenue goals. This will be done through sales calls, prospecting, trade shows, promotions, inquiries, telephone contacts and sales trips
- Establish and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
- Promptly send proposals, contracts and other sales correspondence
- Accurately confirm all bookings, quotes and negotiate rates while adhering to the hotels rate structure, credit policies and general hotels policies and procedures
- Maintain an up -to-date accurate client file, any database and tracking system
- Determines and develops marketing communication activities including strong social media experience in handling business pages.
- Research markets in order to identify potential sources of business and increase market share
- Responsible for full market knowledge as it relates to competitors and industry trends
- In close contact with the client or group while in house in order to ensure satisfaction and also to enable re-solicitation for future business
- Involved with guest feedback in order to maintain product need and standard of the hotels performance
- Produces and implements quarterly action plan to achieve weekly activities quotas and annual revenue goal.
- Contribute ideas to the Sales and Marketing action plans based on customer’s feedback, knowledge of the marketplace and sales targets
- Ensure excellent lines of communication within the Sales and Events department and interdepartmentally
- Attend related tradeshows and conducts sales trips as required to find new business and manage existing partnerships
- Conducts site tours for clients. Entertain clients in-house or in restaurants near client’s offices, and at approved social functions.
- Assist and coordinate with revenue management team for pricing strategy for the hotel
- Assist and coordinate with weekly forecast, 90 day forecast and budget process.
- Overlook and guide catering department on meeting room and banquet revenue goal and selling.
- Be a team player and assist departments as and when required for guest satisfaction
- Conduct performance evaluations, set individual sales goals and implement training programs to enhance team skills.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, providing regular reports to the General Manager and Director, National Accounts.
- Other duties as assigned by General Manager and Director, National Accounts.
