POSITION SUMMARY:

The National Sales Manager is a visionary leader who inspires their team to exceed targets through strategic account management, exceptional relationship-building, and outstanding customer service. They are responsible for leading and managing the sales and customer service teams to achieve the company’s revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals. This role involves developing and executing strategic account plans, managing key accounts, and collaborating closely with internal operations to optimize customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales and sales management with excellent leadership skills, and a customer-centric mindset. Preferably, the candidate has been through a professional sales training program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
Proven experience in sales management, preferably in a national or regional role.
7-10 years in prior sales and consumer products packaging industry (rigid or flexible)
Plus: engineering/mechanical background or technical sales experience
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
Proficiency in ERP software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop the sales and customer service teams to achieve sales, profitability and customer service targets.
  2. Set performance goals, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback to team members.
  3. Foster a collaborative and motivating work environment that encourages team growth and success.
  4. Organize and prioritize responsibilities for best possible market coverage; the ability to handle large and small accounts and complex or difficult sales is essential.
  5. Develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
  6. Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnership as well as building and maintaining strong relationships with key accounts and customers.
  7. Analyze market trends and customer needs to adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  8. Provide input into new products, new markets, and/or new customers for J.L. Clark to consider.
  9. Address and resolve customer issues and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  10. Responsible for growing business with existing customers through new projects and maintaining the sales pipeline accordingly.
  11. Work closely with the operations team to ensure efficient order processing, inventory management, and delivery.
  12. Coordinate with internal departments to streamline processes and improve service quality.
  13. Keep JL Clarks management team informed of activities and progress with updates in our Weekly Business Review.
  14. Participate in creation of annual budget forecasts and market plans for J.L. Clark.
  15. Some travel will be required as needed.
  16. Share information with all appropriate departments of J.L. Clark to help minimize confusion and effort, and maximize end results of the company as a whole.
  17. Make sure J.L. Clark maintains its reputation as the reliable on-time quality supplier.
