Job Description
Our London Real Estate Digital team has a unique opportunity for a Director to lead our SMART Building consultancy services. This is an opportunity to inspire a diverse team of SMART Building Consultants, IT/AV Project Managers, Product Managers, and Business Analysts, where you will be working to lead the development and implementation of organisational strategies and disruptive technologies into the built environment.
As an effective Director of SMART Buildings, you will:
- Deliver SMART Building services, taking responsibility for end-to-end service delivery.
- Be accountable for continual team and service development and growth.
- Grow the brand through business development and client relationships.
- Inspire the SMART Building team across a variety of Real Estate projects, covering finance, banking, corporate occupier and central and local government.
- Be a key person our clients can liaise with.
- Create new client and consultant relationships and opportunities in the marketplace.
- Lead the growth and development of our exceptional team.
- Display excellence in service delivery leadership.
This role involves leading our team, who manage the integration of technology solutions such as SMART building systems, network connectivity and user applications that enhance the efficiency and functionality of modern buildings. You will help clients navigate complex technology challenges by developing innovative, scalable, and cost-effective solutions that align with their goals.
You will work closely with design and construction teams, technology vendors, and stakeholders to ensure that SMART building initiatives are seamlessly integrated from design, through construction to implementation, with a focus on optimising Real Estate building and portfolio performance, environmental and sustainability performance and improving end-user experience and well-being.
You will partner with our clients, helping them achieve their SMART building strategies whilst driving the integration of SMART building technologies and systems such as:
- SMART Building platforms
- Digital Twin solutions
- Structured cabling systems
- Building systems & Converged networks
- Wireless networking, IoT and 5G connectivity
- Audio visual and collaboration technologies
- End user technologies and workplace applications
- Data centres & comms room requirements
- Wired score and SMART score certifications
APM/Agile/Prince2 Project Management qualification or similar.
- Evidence of SMART learning though formal courses, industry initiatives or similar.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior role in the built environment.
- Demonstrable experience with client engagement and Stakeholder management.
- Ability to engage stakeholders and build relationships.
- Resourceful problem-solver, leveraging internal and partner resources where and when needed to do what’s right for the customer and for the organisation.
- Excellent communication skills to include verbal, written and presentation.
- Experience writing bid responses and presenting ideas in interview.
- Experience in commercial and/or technical assurance
- Knowledge and experience of working with/ within the commercial property sector.
- Knowledge of RIBA plan of work, including the SMART building overlay.
- Ability to lead meetings and manage expectations.
- Have a passion for mentoring the team and the future generation.
- Track record of engaging and influencing clients at a senior level.
- Clear understanding to implement strategies for growth, with clear relevance to the local market context
Responsibilities:
- Act as an ambassador for Turner & Townsend, actively seek out contacts, leads and opportunities and advise on how to best position and secure new work.
- Develop and implement business development strategies, pursuing key project opportunities, new business targets, and clients.
- Managing key client accounts and winning new business through organic growth and referral.
- Developing solutions to clients that articulate our services, methodology and approach, experience, and differentiators.
- Providing advice to clients on overcoming the key risks, issues, and challenges to successfully deliver SMART Building projects.
- Develop and implement project set-up and delivery strategies.
- Providing oversight, assurance and problem solving on projects as required.
- Support team leaders on project/client negotiations and contract execution/administration.
- Act as a role model for our ‘One Business’ culture, supporting its staff, initiatives, and policies within the wider business.
- Assume mentoring position for our team to maximize their potential in the business. Encourage the professional development and advancement of your team.
- Identify and attract senior level talent in the local market to fill any management gaps or maximize our potential in the market.
- Collaborate with the other business lines and teams (e.g. Marketing, HR, Finance, etc).
- Support with improving Turner & Townsend’s brand recognition in the market, attending functions, events, presentations, and meetings representing the company
- Having a voice in the market speaking at external events and publishing thought leadership.
- Always acting with the highest integrity, caring for the safety and wellbeing of others.
