DIRECTOR OF SOFTWARE

On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Director of Software for a full-time permanent position in Calgary, AB. This will be a Technical and People Leader opportunity.

DIRECTOR OF SOFTWARE - MANDATORY SKILLS

• Lead and manage the software development department, overseeing all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from conception to deployment.
• Develop and implement software development strategies that align with the company’s business goals and objectives.
• Manage and mentor a team of software developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
• Develop and implement software development strategies that align with the company’s business goals and objectives.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define project scopes, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery of software projects.
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions, ensuring they meet high standards of quality, performance, and security.
• Implement best practices for software development, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Drive innovation within the team by staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, particularly in GIS and ESRI platforms.
• Ensure the scalability and sustainability of software solutions to support the company’s growth and long-term success.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, product management, and customer support, to ensure seamless integration of software solutions.

Director of Software - Must have Skills:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience (8+ years) in software development, with a significant portion in the oil and gas industry
• Strong knowledge of GIS data, ESRI platforms, and related technologies.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing software development teams.
• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
• Experience working closely with sales and marketing teams to align software products with market needs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and drive innovation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Experience with cloud-based solutions and services.
• Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning applications in the oil and gas industry.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards related to software in the oil and gas sector.
