Director of Sports

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Sr. Director of Program Development, this position supports the work of the Y by the development, organization, implementation and support of new and existing programming within the area of sports. The position builds relationships with community members including parents, volunteers, school district administration, and community partners with a measurable upward trajectory of program participation and growth.

NECESSARY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Exercise Science, Health, or equivalent.
2. Two years of experience in a related field with comparable program growth.
3. Two years of demonstrated experience training and development of volunteers and staff.
4. Ability to effectively work/interact with diverse populations
5. Computer literacy including knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook and database management.
6. Time management efficiency.
7. Ability to successfully obtain certification in CPR/AED and First Aid.
8. Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Three (3) to five (5) years of related field experience.
2. Fun, creative and imaginative mind is desired to continue the program’s growth trajectory.
3. Communication proficiency in Spanish, both verbal and written.
