Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Student Success and Policy will provide strategic oversight to the robust portfolio of student success initiatives in the Wisconsin School of Business Undergraduate Program and manage the outstanding student success team members of the larger Student Success and Policy unit, focused on supporting students in navigating barriers and defining their path to success. These initiatives include a success coaching program, early start programs, academic learning support for business courses, and mental health & wellness programming for undergraduate business students.
The Director will develop, implement and evaluate interventions, academic programs, and procedures to enhance the undergraduate business student experience and assist students in meeting their academic goals, overcoming academic challenges, and graduating in a timely fashion.
The Director will regularly meet with and assist students as they navigate academic policies and procedures, support students who are experiencing extenuating circumstances, and serve as a helpful point of contact for staff and faculty who are working with students who may be struggling academically or personally. They will engage with stakeholders across the School and campus to promote the WSB student success services, to support the holistic growth and excellence of undergraduate business students, and to create an environment conductive to student achievement and well-being.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • 3 years of experience in higher education
  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • 1 year of experience developing initiatives to support students thriving

Preferred:

  • Experience in applying complex academic policies and procedures
  • Use of data to inform decision making
  • Experience working with and collaborating with campus stakeholders or partners
  • Exceptional administrative skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in creating a positive team culture

Responsibilities:

Provides leadership and managerial responsibility for one or more academic program(s), ensuring alignment with the university mission. Directs administrative oversight and academic curriculum development, ensuring optimal integration of student and faculty activities. Ensures resource allocation supports the program’s primary objectives. Manages a team of professionals who support the program(s).

  • 10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • 10% Collaborates with faculty members to develop student academic programs and agendas, directs implementation, and creates curricular structure including operational and logistical arrangements
  • 10% Formulates program strategies and goals, directs long-term planning, develops policies and procedures, and establishes and maintains new and emerging program materials
  • 5% Evaluates operations and outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • 15% Serves as the principal liaison between the program, University leadership, and outside entities
  • 5% May provide guidance to faculty regarding funding, staffing, and space implications
  • 5% Develops the unit budget and approves unit expenditures
  • 40% Manages student academic program(s)
