PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing & Community Engagement, this position is responsible for guiding and supporting daily and long-term parish and ecumenical outreach for the benefit of Catholic Charities. This position builds and develops relationships and communication channels with key stakeholders within the Archdiocese of Denver, its parishes and surrounding community; guides volunteer growth within parishes and parishioners; works closely with the marketing team to spread the Catholic Charities message to parishes and parishioners and other key Catholic stakeholders and is highly active in seeking community support through parish engagement, fundraising, physical resource donations and shared communications.
The Director, Parish Engagement is a front-facing, community-oriented and task-oriented team player who is highly respected by pastors and office staff at Archdiocese of Denver parishes; builds and grows connections in the ecumenical community; organizes and leads drives like the Catholic Charites School Supply Drive and has great interest in and capacity to take on new challenges and projects. We are seeking someone who is extremely knowledgeable about how parishes work within the Archdiocese of Denver; is eager to take initiative to build relationships to benefit both the parish community and Catholic Charities of Denver; and is a team player, eager to work with the Respect Life Denver team to build capacity across ministries.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with parish leaders, staff, and parishioners through site visits and other appropriate techniques.
- Develop and provide outreach, messaging and opportunities for parishioners, parishes, faith-based organizations, and general community to learn about Catholic Charities and ministries available to them.
- Lead possible fundraising campaigns aligned with parish growth
- Lead all marketing elements related to parishes.
- Coordinate ecumenical outreach as things arise (a group wants a presentation about what we do at Charites; a corporation has interest in learning more, etc)
- Work closely with Respect Life Director on parish engagement and communications
- Maintain professional ties with other service organizations/boards/committees for the program’s benefit.
- Manage, support and grow relationships with Parish Ambassador ministry (also working with Respect Life and its leaders) with scheduled communications, organized onsite meetings and engagement opportunities.
- With internal team support, guide and organize once-a-year outreach collections of school supplies (summer season), and assistance during Christmas (Adopt-a-Family)
- Assist and support ministries with specific drive requests of the communities throughout the year (diapers/backpacks/underwear/food). Help promote the need, assist parishes and groups with messaging and organization, and work to support with collection and distribution.
- Collect and produce social media marketing materials for volunteers
- Create newsletters and communications through VolunteerHub/Flocknote/other sources.
- Assist with taking calls and messages from the Helpline and relaying information to appropriate parties.
- Supports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics.
- Reflects Catholic Charities commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage all aspects of complex volunteer program.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including ability to make presentations and speak in front of groups.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office suite, and database management systems
- Ability to apply and integrate Catholic Social Teachings to motivate others to action.
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented and self-directed.
- Knowledge of the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
- Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, including speaking, listening, reading and writing is beneficial but not mandatory.
