QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/JOB REQUIREMENTS (ABOUT YOU):

  • Minimum of five (5) years Management experience in retail or foodservice.
  • A minimum of seven (7+) years job related experience in a merchandising or sales/marketing role in a foodservice distribution environment is an asset.
  • Experience in demand planning and replenishment and inbound supply chain management required.
  • Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in a related or relevant field, Master’s degree preferred
  • Formal certification in procurement preferred.
  • Ability to build high performing teams.
  • Ability to manage conflict and reach quick solutions with facts and dialogue.
  • Ability to build relationships across the organization and communicate effectively.
  • Adapts to change and is seen as a change champion.
  • Exposure to procurement software, data analyzing tools, demand planning and inventory management systems.
  • Intermediate expertise with Microsoft Office products.
  • A valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required as there may be travel up to 30%.
  • Negotiation - Effectively exploring alternatives and positions to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties.
  • Knowledge of AS400, DPR, and Tableau an asset.

Responsibilities:

ROLE:

The Director, Procurement owns the execution of the service level, inventory, and spoilage plan for Sysco Canada to achieve customer loyalty and market share growth, including all product categories and customer segments. They lead a team of managers in implementation & execution of the procurement vision, working closely with Operations to drive performance through purchasing efficiencies.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company’s overall business objectives. This involves setting goals, establishing key performance indicators (KPIs), and creating long-term plans.
  • Lead the Sysco Canada Procurement Managers and inventory planning team to collaborate with Operations, National & Local Sales, & Merchandising to ensure service & inventory goals are met.
  • Supports creation and executes the vision of the procurement learning & development plan.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as disruptions, geopolitical issues, and supplier reliability problems. Develop contingency plans to address potential issues.
  • Implement procurement technologies and automation to improve efficiency, data analysis, and decision-making. Explores new procurement tools and practices to stay competitive.
  • Collaborate with the Field Merchandising team to deplete aged and obsolete inventory.
  • Creates strategies to control obsolete inventory and product spoilage in partnership with regional and national sales teams.
  • Monitor Purchase Price Variances (PPV) and strategically manage inventory to maximize revenues.
  • Overall procurement root cause analysis and corrective action to drive required business results. Coaching and corrective behaviour modeled, coached and developed within procurement leadership and direct reports.
  • Support VP, Procurement in communicating relevant inventory and service information to the Canada Leadership Team and Field Sales & Merchandising teams to maximize competitive inventory position and advise against competitive risk.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Logistics to achieve the LEI plan for Sysco Canada.
  • Comply with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Understand both the economic and cultural value that a safe organization with minimal environmental impact brings to an organization.
  • Is willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by providing necessary resources and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.
