mdf commerce Inc . is an international team of approximately 650 experts who develop a broad set of SaaS solutions to optimize and accelerate commercial interactions of its B2B and B2G customers.
Working in the eprocurement sector, we are currently looking for a Director, Product Management to join our government infrastructure portfolio management team at EcoInteractive , a subsidiary of mdf commerce. EcoInteractive is an industry-leading SaaS company providing enterprise software used on a daily basis to complete mission-critical workflows and data analytics for government transportation and environmental agencies. With a track record of 100% customer retention, our company is growing quickly with strong demand for our cloud-hosted solutions.
As a Director of Product Management, you will oversee the end-to-end development of ProjectTracker SaaS platform—our industry-leading, cloud-based enterprise platform helping government agencies transform capital project planning and management processes.
You’re responsible for driving the overall product vision, prioritizing backlog items, and ensuring strategic alignment across features and functionality. An entrepreneur at heart, the Director of Product Management combines a software development background with an intimate knowledge of our product, competitors, and market to delight customers and advance our mission to use technology to improve government operations and deliver greater benefits from their critical infrastructure to their communities.
A strong communicator accountable to a diverse constituency, the Director of Product Management gathers, analyzes, and prioritizes product requirements—making well-researched, data-driven decisions that further long-term goals. They work closely with Go-to-Market, CX, and engineering teams to create and champion a roadmap that reinforces the company’s overall strategy, minimizes risk, and best capitalizes on market opportunity.

Responsibilities:

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES LOOK LIKE?

Product Owner:

  • Drive the ProjectTracker product roadmap and deliver clear, detailed product specifications and requirements for the engineering team. You will completely own and manage the complexity of a large, B2B enterprise software platform. You are well versed in and will be creating detailed, clear product specs for all parts of the platform.
  • Lead discussions with internal and external teams to build consensus and align around clearly defined business objectives and product direction. Develop buy-in for major decisions from all stakeholders and provide clear instructions and deliverables for developers.
  • Assist in determining viable SOW projects, and working with the engineering team and associate product manager to ensure technical viability and timelines align with business initiatives.
  • Lead efforts to maximize the value of product releases—identifying opportunities to increase feature adoption and expand new and existing accounts.
  • Ensure ProjectTracker meets/exceeds the needs of its customers in complying with state, local and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and manage the product management team. Be responsible for coaching and mentoring direct report(s) to empower each person’s professional growth and development.

Commercial Orientation:

  • Develop a repeatable system to solicit, collect, analyze, and respond to qualitative and quantitative data about our product, its customers, and competitive positioning in the capital project planning Govtech market.
  • Proactively conduct product discovery to expand our product and market reach. Actively seek out and talk to prospective customers, industry participants, while leveraging existing customers and other points of external partner relationships to derive first-hand insights on underserved and emerging customer needs.
  • Maintain intimate knowledge of the capital project planning and management industry, including market trends and changes, the comparative strengths and weaknesses of competitors, and the role of capital project planning systems in the broader GovTech ERP/EPPM space.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for business planning, go-to-market and customer activation efforts.
  • Create internal resources and artifacts to create clear alignment for overall organization (i.e., ICP profiles, competitive landscape, new and adjacent customer needs, etc.).

Product advocate and capital project planning evangelist:

  • Champion the long-term vision for ProjectTracker SaaS. Passionately advocate for the role a well-functioning capital planning system plays in broader capital portfolio management operations at government agencies.
  • Train, create comprehensive product knowledgebase documentation. Empower our internal/external partners on how to use and maximize value from various platform features.

Evaluate Progress, Performance, and Quality:

  • Understand business objectives and synthesize them into KPIs and a robust data driven plan that can measure success. This includes:
  • Drive the measurement, monitor, discuss and improve the key product engagement analytics with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Integrate the overall product roadmap as a result of platform migrations.
  • Articulate and enforce a clear framework for prioritizing product feature requests from internal and external stakeholders, measured against key business ROI and objectives.
  • Inspect and evaluate product progress through each iteration. Articulate clear instructions and deliverables for developers and make the call on performance—deciding if the team needs to go back to the drawing board or if can move on to next steps.
  • Assist with QA validation of product releases or client implementations alongside the engineering team and associate product manager.

WHAT ELEMENTS OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND WILL BE NECESSARY AND USEFUL IN THIS ROLE?

  • 6+ years of experience in B2B enterprise SaaS product management.
  • 3+ years of product leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodology, user feedback and product analytics tools and methodology such as Segment and Google Analytics.
  • Prior track record of demonstrating clear, business impact/ROI from product management work.
  • Ability to demonstrate data driven decision-making.
  • Prior track record of successfully developing and managing direct reports on the product management team.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), preferably GIS tools (ESRI ArcGIS and/or Mapbox), Postgres, custom reports creation tools like Stimulsoft.
  • Experience in strategic planning and facilitating decision-making.
  • Experience in direct engagement with internal and external stakeholders including customers (current and prospective).
  • Experience with information security and regulatory compliance preferably SOC2.
