Based in Britomart, Auckland

Our Project Finance team manages the debt requirements for Westpac’s Corporate and Institutional project finance customers, including NZ, Australian and global infrastructure investors, NZ central and local government agencies and a range of corporate and institutional companies utilising a range of loan products.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Project Finance, you will work with the Westpac Institutional Bank and Corporate teams to manage the project finance debt requirements of a wide range of customers. This will include:

  • Maintaining and cultivating relationships with infrastructure investors local/central government agencies, and advisors
  • Originating, structuring and executing project finance transactions
  • Preparing or revising terms sheets, recommending pricing, negotiating terms with clients and their advisors, documenting facilities in conjunction with internal and external legal counsel.

You will work closely with the Head of Project Finance, Relationship Managers, Credit Analysts and product specialists and will have responsibility for drafting credit submissions for project finance transactions. Activity will encompass RFP responses, refinancing’s or restructurings, extensions, new to bank transactions, new loan product opportunities, transactions referred from the wider WBC network offshore.
Whilst Project Finance will be your core activity you will also have product coverage responsibilities across a range of infrastructure based clients, you will also be required to maintain market relationships with corporate finance advisors, debt advisors, legal firms and other market participants..

Na tōu rourou | What will you bring?

  • Deep knowledge of the banking & finance industry, strong communication, credit analytics, legal skills, the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of customers/investors
  • You will need to be a self-motivated team player, possessing strong initiative, drive and customer service values with at least 8 - 10 years banking experience in a legal, credit analysis or related product role.
  • You must have a strong understanding of all forms of corporate debt and should be close to the market with regards to evolution of structures and pricing implications.
  • While debt capital markets, securitisation, and asset finance product is managed through other specialist teams, you should also have a strong understanding of those products to assist with cross sell opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of project finance loan structures and documentation for project finance and corporate & institutional banking
  • Excellent credit skills
  • Understanding of project documentation i.e: construction contracts, O&M contracts and power purchase agreements
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadlines
