QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Textiles/Fashion or within science-based field such as Materials or Chemicals

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Expertise in global apparel / non-apparel regulations, ideally within the fashion industry
  • Previous experience of leading a multi-functional team, ideally across global locations
  • Familiar with “lean” ways of working & methodology
  • Proficient in MS Office applications

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

To lead the Regulatory & Compliance team to ensure that new and existing products in apparel, non-apparel and footwear categories meet the required local and international regulatory safety standards and quality performance expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing advice and direction to the organization on all regulatory matters related to Burberry new and existing products.
  • Ensures the Company is aware of any future legislative changes and develop processes to ensure compliance ahead of deadlines.
  • Participates in labelling governance team supporting the resolution of operational issues.
  • Communicating to cross functional teams any new and updated regulations as part of the regulatory surveillance activity.
  • Maintaining relationships with the appropriate UK, EU and International authorities for regulatory affairs including Trade Association memberships and industry forums.
  • Supporting the development of internationally compliant products to include labelling, testing, storage of product technical files and product registrations as required
  • Ensuring all team costs internally and with third-parties are kept within budget.
  • Management of Burberry Performance Standards.
  • Management of the market certification process for Burberry products to maintain access to key markets such as Saudi Arabia and future expansions of this regulatory trend.
  • Reporting and analysis of test failures for raw materials and finished products.
  • Management of Technical Assurance processes for Apparel, Non-Apparel and Footwear.
  • Providing data to RMM / PE team for root cause analysis of test failures and where required consultation on resolution of failed results.
  • Process management of conditional approval tolerances and ensuring the effective use by accredited testing laboratories and Burberry.
  • Managing relationship with the Burberry accredited test houses, Intertek, Bureau Veritas and UL, including embed implants.
  • Managing the effective implementation of the Pre-CIQ program in China.
  • Managing test failures reported by the Burberry China team and notified to them by AIC or CIQ.
  • Ensuring the effective use of Flex PLM to load test report and ensure accuracy of data for raw material and finished product.
  • Performing the role of Green Team Member.
  • Monitor and review the teams weekly/monthly performance against agreed KPIs and objectives. Work with individual team members to agree and review objectives and agree personal development plans, taking action as needed to rectify under-performance, instigating actions to rectify under-achievement as appropriate.
  • Lead the team to identify opportunities to achieve operational excellence, benchmarking against competitors, supporting and encouraging the team to embrace organizational change, continuous improvement and lean project.
  • Continuously review opportunities for process improvements and champion the use of innovation and technology.
  • To champion communication, diversity and inclusion initiatives and continuously seek to improve levels of engagement and wellbeing across the team.
  • Collaborating and building relationships with corporate cross-functional teams.
