KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Director, Total Rewards and HR Technology will be responsible to:

Total Rewards

  • Define the total rewards strategy to support the growing needs of AMA in conjunction with attracting, retaining and rewarding a high performing diverse workforce.
  • Oversee market research, benchmarking, job evaluation and trend analysis to ensure internal and external equity and competitiveness of AMA’s total rewards programs
  • Implement new or revised total rewards programs and variable pay programs to ensure they support business strategy and practices are aligned across all lines of business.
  • Oversee the administration of the annual compensation and benefits programs including salary increases, incentive plans and benefits enrollment.
  • Lead the modernization of our benefits program while assuring the integrity of our pension plan administration.
  • Develop quarterly presentation material for the HR Committee of the Board of Directors; liaise with and/or present total rewards recommendations to senior executives and/or Board Members.
  • Manage outsourced programs and foster positive vendor relationships for total rewards programs.
  • Monitor existing vendor relationships for performance; identify cost savings opportunities and assure accurate payments.

Payroll

  • Oversee the payroll function and work with the team to develop annual plans to optimize employee experience, payroll processes and compliance to standards.
  • Partner with Internal Audit to develop audit plans, review audit recommendations and implement solutions to address gaps in process controls.

HR Technology & Analytics

  • Develop annual plans for optimizing the functionality of the technology while assuring proper security infrastructure.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for data analysis and reporting across all HR functions and for executives and managers. Establish policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all Workday data.
  • Assure annual goals, check-ins and reviews are in place for each team member.
  • Generate regular and ad hoc reports to inform decision-making and provide insights to senior management.
  • Lead and participate in team functions, meetings, and social events.
  • Lead special projects related to total rewards, payroll and HR technology.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, human resources, finance, or a related field
  • CHRL designation considered an asset.
  • 7-10 years of experience in total rewards, compensation and benefits experience required.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role that includes coaching and developing a team.
  • Expertise in the Hays methodology for job evaluation and market analysis is required.
  • Proficiency in Workday HRIS is required.
  • Proven track record of developing compensation recommendations and presenting to the Compensation Committee of a Board of Directors or equivalent.
  • Certification in Compensation and Benefits (CCP) is a real asset for this role.

Responsibilities:

As a Director, Total Rewards and HR Technology, you will report to the VP, Human Resources and serve as a member of AMA’s People team. As a senior leader within the HR team, you will partner with your peers to continue the journey to modernize our work environment and employee programs. You will contribute to AMA’s success by building out a high quality, comprehensive Total Rewards Program and practices that are aligned with attracting, retaining, and rewarding a high performing diverse workforce. You will also lead the strategy and operations for payroll, HR systems, and workforce data, including data integrity, analysis, and reporting. AMA has recently implemented Workday as its HCM platform. So, you will be at the centre of transforming AMA’s people processes. Bringing creativity and flexibility, you will establish new and improve existing practices in compensation and benefits administration, transaction processing and reporting.
You have a minimum of seven to ten years’ experience, including demonstrated success in building and continuously improving the Total Rewards function, with preferred experience in compensation and benefits in multi-faceted organization. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), a strong attention to detail, and strong organizational skills are keys to success in this role.
