REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric, Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in a supervisory role within dispatch, logistics, or transportation, preferably in the manufacturing sector
  • Proficiency in dispatch and logistics software
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work in both an office and warehouse setting
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across departments
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the team of 11 staff members from various departments
  • Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and handle training and development initiatives
  • Ensure that health and safety protocols are adhered to by the team during all dispatch activities
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of dispatch activities to ensure timely delivery of products
  • Coordinate with production, warehouse, and sales teams to align dispatch schedules with customer demand and manufacturing output
  • Continuously monitor KPIs related to dispatch operations (on-time delivery, cost per shipment, etc.) and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Utilize dispatch software to track shipments and monitor the status of delivery vehicles.
  • Collaborate with the customer service team to handle escalated issues related to delivery delays, damaged products, or incorrect orders
  • Ensure that customer delivery specifications are met, including timelines and any special handling requirements
  • Coordinate with the inventory management team to ensure sufficient stock levels are available for dispatch
  • Address and resolve operational issues, such as vehicle breakdowns, route disruptions, and other logistics problems
  • Investigate incidents such as late deliveries, product damage during transit, and implement solutions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, dispatch activities, and driver logs
  • Prepare reports on dispatch operations, including performance metrics and cost analysis, for senior management review
