DISPENSARY CLERK

Dent Med-Dental Instruments - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24006852)
Must have a strong service orientation, ability to work as an effective member of a team, and willingness to assist with miscellaneous tasks as requested. Expected to meet assigned due dates and make productive use of down time.

JOB SUMMARY

Issues dental instruments and equipment to dental students utilizing proper sterilizations protocols and an electronic database. Inspects cassettes for missing instruments and stocks dispensary and operatories. Assists clinic staff and assists in dental sterilization.

MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL REQUIRED

High School Diploma/GED

Combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education and/ or experience requirement.

This position requires basic computer skills, strong service orientation, and the ability to work as an effective member of a team. Issues instruments to dental students in the assigned clinic module, electronically checking cassettes out and back in through the electronic health record inventory module.

  • Checks cassettes for missing instruments and engages promptly with the student dentist to minimize loss.
  • Maintains optimal level of supplies of other necessary items to ensure ready availability with minimal waste.
  • Dispenses supplies as needed.
  • Will perform duties in the Central Sterilization Room, following infection control practices.
  • Maintains instrumentation and operates sterilization equipment.
  • Must acquire familiarity with all materials in dispensary and apply sound inventory control practices, minimizing overstocking and waste.
  • Must have computer skills and be highly service oriented.
