Description:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in marine science, fisheries science, biology or zoology, from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
- Five years of successful teaching and/or research experience in a university, federal or state agency.
- Significant record of grantsmanship, research, and publication in marine and/or fisheries sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and coordinate an interdisciplinary research program.
- Evidence of participation in professional organizations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced open-water Diving or Instructor Certifications .
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and coordinate an interdisciplinary research program.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to expand the Center’s research work in NOAA fisheries related areas.
- Facilitate and coordinate research among the Center partner institutions and with NOAA Fisheries.
- Seek and attract external funding to support the LMRCSC as well as assist and involve other faculty and students in promoting research and scholarship.
- Coordinate the annual LMRCSC Science meetings.
- Request for Proposals (RFP), and proposal review process conducted by the Center’s Technical Advisory Board.
- Facilitate student professional development.
- Serve as the Center’s point of contact for initiating student Experiential Research Training Opportunities at NOAA.
- Conduct research in his/her field of expertise.
- Recruit and mentor graduate students.
- Publish in scholarly journals.
- Teach one course a semester in his/her area of specialty.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
