QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related Engineering Technology Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 1-3 years of related experience is considered an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of both overhead and underground distribution engineering/construction principles, practices, and methods.
- Must be eligible to register as a Professional Engineer In Training in Ontario or with another province in Canada
- Ability to work in team environment
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer-based design tools
Responsibilities:
YOUR ROLE:
The candidate will assist in the design of distribution engineering for our Power Division. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare engineering deliverables for overhead and underground distribution systems including AC and DC collector systems, feeder design, distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, and cable replacement
- Prepare technical calculations including voltage drop, cable pulling and pole loading
- Prepare material lists, construction details, drawings and diagrams
- Prepare complex and complete drawings using computerized drafting tools using AutoCAD or Microstation
- Apply knowledge of utility standards, guides, specifications and procedures as well as CSA/NESC standards
- Exercise initiative in completing recurring assignments independently
- Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications.
