JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Distribution Manager to oversee the storage, transportation, and delivery of goods across our supply chain. This role ensures that products are distributed efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time to meet customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, expertise in logistics, and a commitment to continuous improvement in distribution operations. This will oversee Logistics Manager and Warehouse Manager within the business. As the business has now expanded to Europe it would also involve working closely with European hubs and managing compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in logistics software and systems (e.g., SAP, WMS, TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or similar credentials.
  • Key Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Negotiation and vendor management expertise.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Experience:

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Distribution Strategy & Planning:
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize distribution processes, reduce costs, and improve delivery efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the operations, purchasing, and sales teams to align distribution plans with business objectives.
  • Forecast and manage logistics budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Logistics Management:
  • Oversee the end-to-end transportation process, including inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, carriers, and suppliers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Monitor freight costs, negotiate contracts, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Ensure Logistical information is supplied customers in a timely manner through the logistics team
  • Ensure compliance in imports and exports of goods.
  • Warehouse Operations:
  • Work with the Warehouse manager to ensure warehousing activities, including receiving, storage, and order fulfilment is done to company standards.
  • Ensure inventory levels are maintained and reconciled to meet demand while minimising overstock and shortages.
  • Ensure safety and compliance measures for warehouse and distribution operations are maintained and additional ones implemented.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and manage the distribution team, including: warehouse staff, and logistics coordinators.
  • Provide training, performance evaluations, and development opportunities for team members.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, efficiency, and accountability.
  • Performance Monitoring & Improvement:
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, transportation costs, and customer satisfaction.
  • Analyse data to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards related to transportation and warehousing.
  • Customer Satisfaction:
  • Respond to and resolve distribution-related issues, such as delays or damaged goods.
  • Work closely with customer service to ensure client needs are met and exceeded.
