SKILLS YOU WILL HAVE:

Logistics Management: The ability to effectively plan, implement, and control the efficient flow and storage of goods from the point of origin to the point of sale.
Materials Handling and Management: Knowledge of material handling and management in the facility; ability to perform, monitor and improve processes related to parts, storage, and handling of damaged/none slotted parts.
Data Analysis: Utilizing data to identify trends, and enhance inventory management strategies; ability to collect, organize, and analyze data to make informed business decisions.
Problem-Solving: Must have the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues within the distribution process.
Coaching Others: Knowledge of coaching and mentoring concepts and methods; ability to encourage, motivate, and guide individuals in learning and improving effectiveness.
ERP Systems: Understanding software for inventory, and logistics, keeping information up to date, creating reports and analyzing data.
Root Cause Analysis: The ability to identify the underlying causes of problems or issues within the distribution process.
Analytical Thinking: Using tools like Excel to analyze information, understanding statistical methods, tracking and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs).
Time Management: Prioritizing tasks, assigning work to others, and meeting deadlines.
Customer Service: Understanding what customers wants (VOC), offering excellent service to internal and external customers, and resolving customer related problems.
Continuous Improvement: Creating a culture of continuous improvement, involving employees in continuous improvement initiatives with the use of continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities:

ROLE SUMMARY:

In this role, you will supervise hourly employees in the receipt, processing, packaging, storage, order filling and shipment of parts to Caterpillar Dealers, Distribution Centers and Regional Distribution Centers to support the end users of Caterpillar Products.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Ensuring parts inventory is received, processed, and stored in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
  • Responding to dealer/dealer service calls and making immediate decisions to resolve the issue.
  • Contributing to the development of an effective work force by assigning, directing, and motivating employees to conform to defined and documented processes.
  • Providing necessary on the job and standard work training.
  • Improving productivity and quality by taking ownership of the process.
  • Leading teams working on problem resolution and process improvement.
  • Maintaining high employee morale by ensuring basic elements of work discipline are delivered.
  • Conducting daily Safety Meetings and observing employees for unsafe behaviours, and correcting behaviours through counselling.
  • Conducting grievance meetings with employees and union committeemen.
  • Preparing and maintaining necessary paperwork for hourly payroll and attendance records.
  • Encouragement and motivation to ensure optimal production.
  • Discuss skills gaps and develop succession plan for the team.
