Position Information
The Amarillo District is looking for a District Sign Tech I or II in the Pampa Maintenance Office.

Position Description
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: No education required.
Experience:
District Sign Tech I = No experience required
District Sign Tech II = *1 year of sign installation and/or repair, roadway maintenance, construction, transportation engineering support, heavy equipment operation, or related work experience.
- (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent) Related technical training or education from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Subject to outside environmental conditions; no effective weather protection
- Subject to extreme cold and heat; below 32 and/or above 100 degrees for more than one hour
- Subject to noise
- Subject to vibration
- Required to wear protective gear-respirator, hard hat, or other device
- Medium work: Lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
- Lifting-raising objects from lower to higher position/horizontally to a different position
- Fingering-picking, pinching, typing; working primarily with fingers rather than whole hand
- Close Visual Acuity-using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts
- Visual Acuity-operate machines, such as drill presses, power saws, and mills

Responsibilities:
The essential duties for the District Sign Tech I include:
- Assists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergency situations/conditions.
- Moves equipment, tools, materials, and products.
- Issues signs to maintenance sections/transportation crews; uses tools and equipment and moves signs and related materials.
- Measures and calculates amount of materials needed.
- Mixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these duties.
- Operates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs.
- Performs and maintains inventory of signs.
- Performs preventive maintenance on sign truck.
- Repairs and installs signs, supports, foundations and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other departmental guidance.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Additional duties for District Sign Tech II include:
- Orders supplies and materials from district shop.
- Conducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflective pavement markers (RPMs).
- Inspects roadways to identify sign and delineator deficiencies and recommend repairs.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
