The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), is looking for a highly motivated sworn law enforcement professional to join our executive leadership team. DOJ is currently recruiting for a Division of Criminal Investigation Administrator to be headquartered at the Risser Justice Center located at 17 West Main Street in Madison, WI .

Position Summary
This is an executive-level sworn law enforcement position responsible for the overall management and administration of the Division of Criminal Investigation, a statewide law enforcement Division of the Wisconsin Department of Justice. As a leader at the department, this position collaborates with the Office of the Attorney General and leadership in other Divisions and Offices to advance the mission of the Department of Justice. The administrator is responsible for coordinating investigative activities with local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement organizations. The administrator also provides policy support on law enforcement issues to the Office of the Attorney General. As a leader in the justice community, the administrator will also develop strategies to support and enhance a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Salary Information
The Division of Criminal Investigation Administrator position is in pay schedule 81 and pay range 01. The starting salary for this position is between $64.75/hour ($134,680/year) and $70.56/hour ($146,765/year) depending upon experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan effective at the time of hire. A 2-year Career Executive trial period is required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

Applicants must be a certified/certifiable law enforcement officer in the State of Wisconsin OR be eligible to take the reciprocity examination. NOTE: for sworn law enforcement officer applicants from outside Wisconsin-Reciprocity Requirements for becoming a certified law enforcement officer in Wisconsin can be found at: https://wilenet.widoj.gov/training-standards/officer-training-employment-and-reciprocity.
Applicants must meet all WI Law Enforcement Standards Board requirements, which also include an extensive character and background investigation, as well as fingerprints, drug screening, psychological evaluation, and medical testing which all DCI sworn law enforcement applicants complete prior to selection.
Applicants must be free of Brady or Giglio disclosure obligations for testimony in court.
Frequent in-state travel will be required, and occasional overnight or out-of-state travel may be necessary for investigative purposes. Must be eligible to drive when required for travel.
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.
Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicant must be a certified/certifiable law enforcement officer in the State of Wisconsin and must also have experience in the following: Overseeing a law enforcement agency to include coordinating critical incident response activities, collaborating with agency partners, and monitoring all activities to ensure efficiency and quality of work. Directing a law enforcement leadership team to include managing supervisors. Planning and directing criminal investigations involving multi-jurisdictional law enforcement partners. Routinely managing complex and diverse criminal investigations. Implementing recommendations that impact public safety on a local, state, tribal, or federal level.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant must have experience in the following: Developing and maintaining professional relationships with government agencies and other law enforcement officials for the purpose of coordinating services. Evaluating investigative programs to ensure technological advancements, modernization, and innovation is applied strategically. Overseeing administrative functions to include creating and monitoring budgets, evaluating and developing policies and procedures, and managing programs to ensure compliance. Overseeing personnel management functions to include hiring, training, assigning duties, transfer, promotion, evaluation, and disciplinary action. Engaging in strategies for fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, employee engagement, encouraging professional development, and providing for employee health and wellness.
