An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Division C as a Divisional Governance Manager. Working closely with the divisional and care group management teams, and staff members across the Trust, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day delivery and development of the governance agenda across Division C, whilst focusing specifically around those workstreams related to Maternity and Neonatal services.
Division C encompasses the care groups of Child Health, Women and Newborn and Clinical Support Services, as well as Trust Outpatients. This is a broad and varied division that includes inpatient and outpatient, local and regional, elective and emergency services, and pathways. It employs a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professionals, and strong collaborative working is core to the ethos of this Division. Sitting in the centre of this is the governance team who support these services to self-regulate the care and treatment provided. We are a small team of 7 who are eager to embrace the Trust values and deliver excellence in healthcare.
As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.
Specific to this role is the suitability for agile working which is a mixture of on-site and remote working. In addition, we are open to discussing flexibility in the hours that you work. Please talk to us at the interview about the flexibility you need, and we will explore what’s possible for the role and service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London’s and 14 schools are rated outstanding by Ofsted.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving patient care and putting patients first. You will need to be an effective communicator with the confidence to present complex and sensitive information to a wide range of audiences including senior divisional and trust management.
Being exceptionally organised with a high attention to detail and being able to thrive in a fast paced environment, adapting and prioritising workloads at short notice are important facets of this role.
We are seeking someone who is able to think critically, analytically, strategically, and innovatively; who is motivated to work autonomously and self-start, as well as work effectively as part of a team inspiring those around them.
Candidates from non-clinical backgrounds must have a good understanding around the national safety agenda, specifically in relation to both maternity and neonatal services.
This exciting opportunity is ideally suited to candidates looking to use their knowledge of governance and quality to provide leadership within the Division and to report and contribute to corporate work streams and governance forums.
The successful candidate will advise the Divisional Management Team and develop plans for change in practice, policies, and procedures as necessary. The role has a broad scope encompassing many elements – patient safety, risk management, clinical effectiveness and outcomes, patient experience, compliance with regulatory requirements against others.
You will provide line management and leadership to all members of the divisional governance team.
You will oversee all workstreams within the governance portfolio ensuring that risks and gaps in compliance are proactively identified and addressed.
Undertaking patient safety investigations with a focus on a systems-based learning approach and just culture is a vital component of this role.
You will be responsible for maintaining a robust risk management programme in collaboration with the clinical teams.
You will act as an expert lead in governance advising clinical and management teams to ensure that internal and external regulations are adhered to.
In addition to working within this Division we regularly interlink with the wider Trust and corporate functions and build relationships with staff at all levels and professions. Based out of Princess Anne Hospital we work Monday to Friday, usually within core working hours, but with some flexibility to work evenings or weekends on rare occasions dependent on service demands.
Utilising your significant experience and expertise in governance and risk, you will lead in driving forward the governance agenda within the Division, working in collaboration with the clinical teams to support them in delivering world-class care to all of our patients. You will be highly motivated, able to work as an individual and as part of a team, passionate about improving patient care, and able to utilise complex and sensitive information from incidents, risks and complaints to drive change.
If you feel that this role is for you then we look forward to hearing from you
