JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Dispatcher to be responsible for assigning, dispatching, and routing truck drivers within GTA to coordinate pickups and deliveries in a timely and efficient manner.
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 1 year of dispatch experience or similar role
- Solid knowledge and navigation of geographic areas (Canada/US)
- Experience working with GPS Tracking software.
- Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in customer service with strong attention to details
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and able to multi-task
- Ability to manage stressful situations and work under pressure.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Flexible to work extended hours occasionally.
Responsibilities:
- Arrange, coordinate, and schedule drivers to make freight deliveries or collect shipments and packages.
- Plan pre-determined routes and accommodating route changes as needed to ensure that all orders are handled correctly.
- Identify any potential problems that may impede trips by means of tracking weather, traffic issues, warehouse delays, and any other problems that may arise.
- Resolve service and delivery issues by making necessary arrangements and to always keeping customers up to date.
- Responsible for ensuring drivers have all the proper documents and permits they will need to complete trips.
- Prepare dispatch documents, as well as generating and verifying freight bills and invoices.
- Communicate with customers about freight details, delivery or pickup times, delays, and special handling requests.
- Ensure that truck drivers and all freight are picked up and delivered on time and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor truck drivers’ routes and adjust as necessary to ensure efficient delivery of freight
- Responsible for creating shipping and dispatch records that keep track of dispatched calls, driver routes, delivery and pick up schedules, and truck repairs and maintenance.
- Review, record and maintain all relevant data including driver’s hours, delivery locations, and freight information
