Our brand new special school for primary-aged learners with SEND relating to SEMH, ADHD, trauma and ASC (KS1, KS2 + Yr7) opened in September 2024 in the Fishponds area of Bristol and we’re continuing to recruit for our staff team. All of the learners we support are vulnerable and have an EHCP to define their additional needs or an EHCP in progress. Creativity, perseverance and an empathetic approach when working with them is key to engaging them in education and ensuring their progression.
Elmtree Grove School will open based on the successes of learner outcomes at our 6 Elmtree Learning Partnership sites since 2022 www.elmtree-learning.org.uk . Initially, we will be supporting up to 28 learners with a view to gradually increasing learner capacity in the future.
We are seeking someone with previous experience of having worked with children, or other relevant interactions and who is available to offer transport services from a childs’ home to the learning sites and also between the sites. Whilst this is a role to provide transport to learners and not directly supporting their education, the ideal person must be able to act as a positive role model.
We’re looking for someone who willing, able and confident to drive the company vehicles which is an MPV / people-carrier. It’s not expected that you would be using your own vehicle. You must be flexibly available during the hours of 8:00am - 10:00am & 2:30pm - 4:00pm. The hours will be for 16 - 23 hours per week. We are very open to a job-share for this role and or a hybrid role, provided the overall transport hours are covered. You will be working with children that have additional needs and may have experienced trauma or other adverse childhood experiences, therefore, as a person we’re seeking someone, calm, patient and empathetic.
Essential criteria:
- Full, clean driving licence (manual transmission qualified)
- Minimum 25 years old (for insurance reasons)
- Willingness to undergo Safeguarding & Prevent training
Desirable criteria:
- Additional driver training (MIDAS trained, Advanced Driving Training, ROSPA driver training)
The role is offered on a 1-year fixed-term contract basis until the end of the academic year (22/07/2025) with the intention to offer a permanent contract from September 2025, pending funding review.
We’re building our next great team so if you love working with people who are dedicated to supporting young learners that strive to support their development in a positive setting, this is the role for you.
