Description:

We are introducing a new opportunity for a skilled and experienced professional HGV Driver Trainer to join our Transport Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing training programs for our drivers, with a focus on safety, efficiency and compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in HGV driving, holds HGV and ADR certifications and can demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement. The role will be based in our Dublin Distribution Centre in Tolka Quay, however, the Driver Trainer will be required to travel to other locations across the Island of Ireland.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid HGV licence and ADR certification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in HGV driving, with a proven track record of safe and efficient driving.
  • Strong knowledge of ADR regulations and hazardous materials transportation requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage drivers at all levels.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and the importance of safe practices.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programs that promote safety, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to be flexible and change priorities to meet business needs.
  • Computer skills would be an advantage, training will be provided for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive training programs for HGV drivers, including but not limited to ADR training, defensive driving techniques, manual handling, vehicle care and customer service.
  • Conduct training sessions for new and existing drivers (including agency and core drivers), ensuring compliance with company policies, regulations and industry standards.
  • Coach drivers to improve their driving techniques, safety awareness and overall performance.
  • Evaluate driver’s skills and performance to provide constructive feedback to enhance safety, efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with other areas across the business to identify training needs that will address specific requirements enabling overall business success.
  • Collect data to highlight any opportunities and put steps in place on how drivers can make improvements.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to incorporate into training programs and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Demonstrate good practices to all drivers (agency and core), to ensure consistency across the business.
  • Create and maintain training materials, including manuals, presentations, and visual aids to support development.
