Responsibilities:
- Operate the vehicle safely and reports any vehicle and/or radio maintenance concerns/problems/needs to the Program Coordinator/Supervisor.
- Provide service to clients ensuring satisfaction in every aspect of job performance.
- Ensure client satisfaction by diligently abiding to the policy and procedures as reviewed in the on-boarding process.
- Ensure that the exterior and interior of vehicles are clean and presentable to clients and the public (Clear vehicle of ice and snow as required.
- Conduct daily safety checks on vehicle(s) in accordance with Pre-Trip Inspection Guidelines and requirements.
- Monitor and reports any vehicle inventory supplies that should be replenished, such as First Aid kit, gloves, etc. as outlined in the Pre-Trip Inspection requirements.
- Report any maintenance/repairs that may occur during the workday and may be required to take vehicles to scheduled repairs and maintenance appointments.
- May be required to lift heavy equipment or supplies (up to 40 lbs).
- Observes routine practices when working with clients and others.
- Follow all procedures in reporting and documenting any incidents, accidents and/or injuries.
- Report incidents involving clients immediately to Program Coordinator/Supervisor.
- Report any observed or potential occupational health and safety hazards for workers or clients to supervisor or designate.
- Adheres to implemented strategies to support social justice and diversity in accordance with Society policies and procedures.
- Utilize the most expedient route, safely transports the elderly, disabled and/or physically/mental limited clients (and their personal companions, as required) from pick-up point to various appointments and return.
- Provide assistance to clients to onboard/de-board the vehicle including those clients utilizing mobility devices (i.e., pushing/manoeuvring wheel chairs, folding walkers and safely stowing during trip as needed).
- Drivers may be required to operate a hydraulic wheel chair lift and must follow the mandatory training regiment including wheelchair securement systems and lift procedures.
- Responsible for storing and securing a variety of mobility equipment devices such as wheelchairs and walkers as part of the duties of transporting clients.
- Follow all policies and procedures as required to maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
- Follow all applicable road safety and vehicle operation laws, guidelines and practices.
