POSITION OVERVIEW:

Security Guards and Supervisors play an integral role in maintaining the overall security and protection of the Casino in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures and Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission (AGLC) terms and conditions pertaining to the operation of the casino. They ensure the safety of casino patrons and employees while protecting their employer’s property. Typical duties include removing disruptive individuals from the casino, reporting suspicious activity, escorting casino funds to and from the vault and assisting police officers when a disturbance is reported. Security Guards and Supervisors may also answer customer inquiries and provide directions around the casino. The Security Supervisor is responsible in assisting the Security and Surveillance Manager, while handling the daily organization and running of the Security Shift. The supervisor ensures there are sufficient security personnel scheduled on shift to enable them to perform their duties effectively

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid AGLC licence;
  • Security Guards and Supervisors are responsible to provide courteous service to all casino patrons and assist in resolving patron complaints and disputes about casino games or service; They must perform all duties in accordance with the highest professional standards at all times, and project a professional image of self, the security department, and the casino;
  • Security Supervisors are responsible for the overall operation, administration, and supervision of the shift to which they are assigned and shall oversee that those who are under their command perform their respective duties and conduct themselves in a pleasant, professional manner towards the guests in the Casino, fellow employees and other persons with whom they come in contact;
  • Ensure that any or suspected violations of internal controls, applicable legislation, AGLC and site/departmental policies and procedures are logged accordingly and reported to the Security and Surveillance Manager as soon as possible;
  • Maintain radio contact at all times when on shift; respond to emergencies, alarms, duress situations or incidents promptly and assist any members of the Emergency Response Team as required;
  • Maintain a physical presence on the gaming & slot floors as a deterrent to major and petty crimes;
  • Clear, concise and accurate recording of all activities in the appropriate logs and reports;
  • Report found property and to ensure the security of the property;
  • Escort unruly customers out of casino and off the premises;
  • Escort customers with large winnings safely to their vehicles;
  • Escort chip fills, jackpots, and credits;
  • Escort playing cards from delivery trust to storage and from storage to pit stands;
  • Ensure that all security equipment is functioning correctly and to report any malfunctions to the Security Supervisor;
  • Perform duties pursuant to First Aid training and train staff on emergency procedures as required.
  • Check and verify that all security equipment is operational, functional, and that all security personnel are fully briefed prior to each shift.
  • Safeguard all confidential information with due care and sound judgement to prevent its improper disclosure or use.
  • Review all appropriate logs and reports generated by Security Officers on a daily basis to make certain a standard level of reporting and writing is achieved and maintained.
  • The Supervisor must assist the Security and Surveillance Manager in the development of employee competence, morale and efficiency to maintain an effective rapport with the local Law Enforcement Agencies, the AGLC and its authorized representatives.
  • Investigate and oversee all occurrences that could impact on the company in a negative manner, i.e. slips, falls, injuries, deaths, negligence, internal thefts and property damage and to present the Security and Surveillance Manager with statistical information and reports to process all information.
  • Execute other duties as directed by the Security and Surveillance Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Anti-Money Laundering, Pro Serve, ProTect, Deal Us training.
  • Completion of a certified Security Training Program, equivalent work experience considered.
  • Previous security and supervisory experience required.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal records check.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid AGLC licence.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven leadership skills.
  • The ability to honor confidential and private information.
  • Knowledge of Grey Eagle Casino and AGLC policies and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively to verbalize incidents and daily happenings in the department, along with strong reading and writing skills for reporting purposes.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team oriented environment, and be able to function independently also,
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding area and be familiar with a high-volume, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Respond appropriately and in a timely manner to any emergency situation.
  • Must be available for shift work.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
