Description:

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

You may know Bupa as a provider of health insurance or aged care services. You’ve probably also seen our dental and optical clinics in your local shopping centres and heard about our partnership with Kids Helpline as well.
In 2021 Bupa is proud to have expanded our Health Services contract with the Australian Defence Force to the provision of services to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). The Department of Veterans’ Affairs is an Australian Government organisation that supports those who serve or have served in the defence of our nation and commemorate their service and sacrifice.
Our role is to support the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to meet the Nation’s commitment to care for our veteran and defence service community – the men and women who have served Australia in times of war and conflict as well as peacetime. As part of Bupa’s service offering, Bupa assists the Department of Veterans’ Affairs by providing high-quality clinical advice. About the role, The Transition Medical Assessment Pilot Project (TMAPP) aims to expedite claim determination for medically transitioning Australian Defence Force (ADF) members with complex medical situations by providing high quality medical evidence to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) at the time of claim submission and prior to discharge from the ADF.

As part of this program, we’re looking for a GP with an interest in occupational medicine to join the team and help support transitioning members through:

  • Providing expert medical evidence to support DVA claims submissions for medically transitioning ADF members.
  • Undertake medical assessments, file reviews and documentation submission for DVA initial liability claims, includes liaison with treating Specialists and organising supporting investigations.
  • Work co-operatively with the other TMAPP team members.
  • Liaise with relevant Defence and ACT Health Centre staff including Medical Officers, Rehabilitation Providers and others. Liaise with the DVA on base Veteran Service Officers (VSO).
  • Liaise with DVA claims delegates.

ABOUT YOU

Please note: You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) who are the central vetting agency for Defence

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA with at least 5 years clinical experience.
  • AHPRA registration as a Specialist GP and hold FRACGP or FACCRM with an interest in occupational/veteran medicine.
  • Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • High level written and oral communication skills.
