To be successful in this role, key skills required are:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Macintosh applications and providing IT support within a Microsoft Windows/Macintosh desktop and server environment.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and associated peripherals. Some understanding of IT networking.
  • Some experience providing IT services to end users or experience in customer service provision. Experience troubleshooting basic software and hardware issues.
  • Demonstrated interest in the placement option(s) applied for and experience with relevant technologies.
  • Obtained or close to obtaining an IT related degree or recognised relevant IT credentials, or relevant experience in maintaining and supporting computers.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE / TE MAHI

The primary role for the e-Waste/e-Cycle Technician is to support and contribute to IT Services at an intern level.
As the e-Waste/e-Cycle Technician intern you will develop a strong understanding of a specific area of IT Services in the University and effectively contribute to IT service delivery, projects and programs as required.
A client focused orientation providing excellent service delivery is critical to success in this role.

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Contributing to the provision of effective, reliable IT services, including the diagnosis and resolution of issues.
  • Assisting and responding to clients, ensuring requirements are understood and followed up.
  • Providing effective, reliable plain language advice and recommendations in a manner easily interpreted by clients.
  • Working collaboratively with ITS, IT Support Services and AskOtago colleagues to deliver service that provides an outstanding customer experience.
