Flex Trainee continues to grow, and we currently have over 70 legal trainees, apprentices, and CoSec trainees seconded to a variety of in-house legal teams, including BioNTech, Tesco, Fremantle Media, Mars, Ford, and Santander. Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Flex Trainee is looking for an Early Careers Executive (internally titled Trainee Success Executive) to join our team and take ownership of several trainee, apprentice, and supervisor relationships. We’re seeking someone with strong emotional intelligence (EQ), ideally some knowledge of the legal industry, and a commercial mindset. While a background in early careers or employee engagement is preferred, we are open to hearing from anyone who believes they are a good fit for the role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Head of Trainee Success, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our trainees and apprentices throughout their exams and qualifying work experience, while driving continuous innovation within Flex HQ. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring and supporting trainees, apprentices, and CoSec trainees through their exams, studies, qualifying work experience, and professional development.
  • Developing and managing commercial relationships with Flex Trainee supervisors and clients.
  • Monitoring trainee and apprentice progress by fostering strong relationships with our external training and apprenticeship partners.
  • Taking ownership of new projects, ideas, and initiatives across the business to ensure the growth and success of the Flex Trainee programme.
  • Working closely with the Head of Trainee Success on performance management and engagement across all trainees and apprentices.
  • Assisting our Business Operations Lead with onboarding new clients and supervisors to the Flex Trainee programme, including training supervisors on best practices, managing onboarding documentation, and facilitating introductions to trainees and key contacts.
  • Reporting to the Head of Trainee Success on activities across all areas of Flex Trainee, including monthly project check-ins, mentoring meetings, study progress, exam results, and trainee journals.
  • Collaborating with the Commercial and Growth team to ensure a seamless approach to onboarding new businesses to the Flex Trainee programme.
  • Working closely with the Business Operations Lead to ensure that contractual documentation is processed efficiently.
  • Troubleshooting any issues or roadblocks with both trainees and supervisors to ensure everyone has a positive experience as part of Flex Trainee.
  • Representing Flex Trainee at external networking events as an ambassador.
  • Supporting the Head of Trainee Success and Head of Talent with interviews and assessment centres.
  • Support with the design, development, and delivery of our internship programmes and partnerships.
  • Advocating for social mobility in the legal industry and supporting our mission to close the inequality gap.
