Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Work under the supervision of an Early Childhood Educator or Supervisor. The primary responsibility is to support the educational, emotional, and physical development of young children. To assist in implementing activities and programs designed to foster children’s growth and development in a safe and nurturing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of early childhood Assistant Diploma is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with young children in a childcare is a must.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in supporting children’s growth and development.
  • Knowledge of child development principles, early learning theories, and best practices in early childhood education.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $18.55-$19.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week

Responsibilities:

A) Support Educational Activities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities and programs that promote children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Engage children in learning experiences through play, storytelling, arts and crafts, music, and other interactive activities.

B) Ensure Safety and Well-being:

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment conducive to children’s learning and development.
  • Supervise children during playtime, meals, and outdoor activities to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.

C) Provide Personal Care:

  • Assist children with personal hygiene tasks such as diapering, toileting, and handwashing.
  • Support children in developing independence and self-help skills in daily routines.

D) Foster Positive Relationships:

  • Build positive and nurturing relationships with children, parents, and colleagues based on trust, respect, and empathy.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about their child’s progress, activities, and any concerns that may arise.

E) Collaborate with Educators:

  • Work collaboratively with Early Childhood Educators and other staff members to create a cohesive team environment.
  • Assist in documenting children’s progress, observations, and assessments to inform individualized learning plans.

F) Maintain Professionalism:

  • Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines for working with children and families.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education and childcare practices.

G) Ensure Compliance:

  • Follow licensing regulations, policies, and procedures related to health, safety, and childcare standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by regulatory agencies and as advised by the lead teacher of the class.
