THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a high energy and motivated Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our 0-6 coordinator team. This position will provide support with the day-to-day operations of the LEC programs and will carry out responsibilities in a wide variety of areas. This position will also support in our 0-12 programs in Aldergrove and Langley areas.
The ideal candidate will have worked as Early Childhood Educator Assistant, preferably in the not-for-profit sector, for a minimum of one year. We are looking for a high energy, can do person, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can handle changing priorities with ease and work well independently.

B. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and Knowledge
- Grade 12, plus enrolment in Early Childhood Education Certificate program or completing work experience required for licensing.
- Training and Experience
- One (1) year equivalent of recent related education, training, and experience
- Valid First Aid and CPR
- Skills and Abilities
- Ability to be flexible, resourceful and possess good time management skills.
- Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, including lifting, and bending.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of trauma-informed and culturally safe principles of care;
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts, pertinent regulations, policy, procedures and other statutory and certification requirements (such as the Mental Health Act; Adult Guardianship Act; Child, Family and Community Service Act; and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act);
- Effective listening and consensus building skills that promote communication and a cooperative approach to problem solving and decision making;
- Ability to work effectively with others in a multicultural environment, independently and as part of a team, including understanding the frameworks of other disciplines;
- Ability to maintain professional integrity, boundaries, and confidentiality;
- Ability to make effective referrals in a collaborative manner, reflecting in-depth knowledge of community resources and strong collaborative skills in working with other community partners;
- Knowledge of systemic issues and risk factors facing underrepresented groups including 2SLGBTQIA+ and Indigenous youth and young adults;

- Must possess a valid BC class 5 Driver’s license, have a reliable vehicle, business insurance and drivers abstract review. (mileage paid for work use)

Responsibilities:
- Assists senior staff in monitoring children in indoor and outdoor activities and during rest periods.
- Assists in planning, preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
- Under close supervision, conducts activities with children on an individual and group basis to promote the development of physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills.
- Attends to children’s physical needs, which may include diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping.
- Maintains records, reports problems or concerns to senior staff.
- Keeps program facilities and equipment safe and clean, reporting any repairs and concerns to senior staff.
- Perform other related duties as required.
